Maybe thats the real reason they don't want to receive blood Azazel...they don't want to catch apostacy...there is no known cure for that yet...LOL

I'm discovering quite a number of ex-JWs that donate blood regularly. That's just one thing that shows how leaving the JWs can improve your love and kindness for others.

Keep up the good work, Zen!

I am donating next week again, I am going to produce my own card to the WT, as here in the U.K things are a little different, we cannot specify where or how our blood is used. But no doubt some of it may well end up benefitting a JW, and the card may make someone think.

I haven't made up my mind about whether to mention that the JW who benefits is getting a good dose of Apostate blood or not ! LOL

I donated last week and have done so fairly regularly since leaving. I'd recommend it to anyone who is able - not all have the health and it can have the odd adverse affect on some too. It was only a pint but think of all fractions that'll make :-)

Awesome Phizzy. Yes you are right about not being able to designate where your actual drops of blood will go. The first two versions of the AJWRB brochure published wrong information on that count. We were still learning about the process at that point but that among other myths and misconceptions were cleared up when we went on tour at the RC facility and interviewed the Public Relations Manager. So... the light got brighter. it's a good thing I don't claim to be the sole channel of truth on easrth today otherwise I'd be a big fat false prophet.

Anyway, the brochure as it appears not on the site seems to be corrected from that mistake anyway. It no longer claims that the blood you donate can be set aside for use by JWs or any other group. What it says now is that you donated blood "on behalf of JWs" or in the name of JWs as a sort of gesture to them, even though literally your blood probably will not actually be used by a JW. BUT, it COULD be used by a JW for all we know. There is no way to know for sure. Well, the RC tracks every drop of blood but all that info is private. So SOMEONE knows, but we can't know about it.

Wow, I had no idea that the brochure existed. Thank you for letting us know about it. I will be sure to let others know who are donating blood, so that they can send in the brochure too. Maybe I can print a bunch out, so that I can give them to people so that they will be all ready to send.

Hopefully, one day the WTBTS will realize that they need to stop pushing an archaic law that was twisted to begin with to suit their own flase teachings.

My thoughts go out to all who have lost friends and family due to the no blood ban. There are several here on the board who have lost family, and it is heartbreaking to hear their stories.
