Rutherford managed a pretty thorough reinvention of the Watchtower movement. Being a rather disagreeable character he alienated most of those who remained loyal to Russell's ideas. And those who persevered under Rutherford were mostly disillusioned by the fiasco of 1925. That left him free to build a new movement which he distanced from both mainstream christianity and the continuing Bible Students.
Hey Rob I enjoyed your book Counting the Days to Armageddon. I read it years ago. It doesn't get the mention it deserves. Good to have you with us.
With a little research into the Watchtower religion it becomes obvious that they made mistake after mistake all the way through their history and if the current leaders can't see it then they are either dishonest or stupid.
