I have to say that i'm not at this point yet. I still believe in the bible, or most of it.

But this is where i am at this point, maybe after some more research i'll drop that as well. Most of the things i don't believe are in the old testament like Adam and Eve, the great flood and others.

However i find the new testament more believable and in line with the idea i have of God and how he would expect humans to live. I'm still not confortable with assuming that since some of the stories in the Hebrew scriptures are bogus, the entire book must be as well.

I will continue my research and i would really like to find some reading material that reveals evidence that the entire bible is bogus including the greek scripts, just so that i can consider both sides of the argument.

If you're gonna read it, you need to have this study companion on hand...

    http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/154236/1/The-Atheists-Book-of-Bible-Stories

Otherwise, I'd suggest that you skip all the boring stuff and go right to Song of Solomon!

Will definately check out all those links tomorrow, there's a lot of reading in the post WTS journey lol.

Redvip2000, I know what you mean I guess for me though I just started seeing the bible differently and once one part of it is called into question, it kinda casts a shadow of doubt over the rest of it.

    This text says it all.

    Numbers 5:11-22

11 Then the LORD said to Moses, 12 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him 13 so that another man has sexual relations with her, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act), 14 and if feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impure—or if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impure— 15 then he is to take his wife to the priest. He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah c]">[c] of barley flour on her behalf. He must not pour olive oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder-offering to draw attention to wrongdoing.

16 “‘The priest shall bring her and have her stand before the LORD. 17 Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water. 18 After the priest has had the woman stand before the LORD, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder-offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse. 19 Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, “If no other man has had sexual relations with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you. 20 But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have made yourself impure by having sexual relations with a man other than your husband”— 21 here the priest is to put the woman under this curse—“may the LORD cause you to become a curse d]">[d] among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell. 22 May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.”

“‘Then the woman is to say, “Amen. So be it.”

.....I too started reading the bible for the first time when I came out 14 years ago. Was a little stumbled myself at how vengeful, wrathful and mean the God of the old testament is! As holy spirit was directing me more and more and I began hearing more clearly our Lords voice, the fine shephard who he said "His sheep would hear His voice and COME OUT".... He began to remind me who was actually responsible for putting the Bible canon together (Catholic Church and their scribes) First red flag! Its intent is too put the fear of God in people (sheep) and guilt them into submission. Something religion is a master at doing. And our Lord reminds me who THEIR Master is that they follow when they do this. Our Lord reminds us that if you want to know and see the father.....you must look intently at His chief agent, exact representation of the father, and that is "THE SON". Our Lord never judged anyone. He called the Pharisees exactly what they were, the truth, vipers! He showed mercy, kindness, compassion, foregivness, love etc... even too His enemies. Something the old testament didn't usually allow for. (eye for an eye) He surpassed that because he knew were could NEVER measure up to it. He reminds me that the Bible is truly tampered with and allowed to be, so the true seed can be identified. It contains scripture but is not all scripture. There is history, law, letter to congs, the prophets, revelation. Our adversary truly wants remained in the Bible where Jah is always painted as a wrathful god. He is not and can not if 1John 4:8 is true .... "God is Love" not has love.... IS love! So whenever we are reading if we do, always ask lol WWJD really though What would Jesus do? That is the heavenly father I worship. Not the one the adversary wants painted in the bible. When the sins and shortcomings are mentioned in the written, it should more make us understand our debt to him and how he foregives anything. So we don't think we are capable of something that hasn't already been done. So whenever you need some answers, instead of always trying to decipher what is true or not in the bible, go to Him first (our lord) He is our life source and one that will NEVER mislead us. John 5: 39 & 40. "You keep searching the scriptures, because you think by means of them you will have everlasting life and they are what leads you to ME and you refuse to come to me to get life." So....the Bible ...seriously???? Not too much at all..... justathought justmom

Many ideas in the Bible are copied from the Egyptians.

    AMEN

Christians will tell you it means "let it be done" or some other similar affirmation, the actual origin is nothing but the repetition in unisome to the Egyptian god "Amun".

    ADONAI

This is used as a title of respect to Yahweh, but the truth is it is obviously based on the Egyptian God "Aton" the Sun God.

    MONOTHEISM

Invented by Akhenaton. Its not chance that the story of the Hebrews begins in Egypt.

    DAVID AND SOLOMON

These kings in all their glory of course never existed. Nobody can find their grand palace even though we all know where to look. It shouldnt be a hard task given the old city of Jerusalem is quite a small place. The Jewish writers simply copied the glorious past history of the greatest empire of their time and made it theirs. However their story and naames can be found in Egyptian Pharoahs.

    CIRCUMCISION

Was practiced by the Egyptians. Only elites like the Pharoah were circumsized, by requiring all Jews to be circumsized the Bible is making a statement that all Jews are special and chosen by God.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumcision

The oldest documentary evidence for circumcision comes from ancient Egypt [128] and Greek historian Herodotus states that "the Egyptians and those who have learned it from them are the only people who practise circumcision"

    http://encyclopedia2.thefreedictionary.com/Pharaonic+circumcision

Surgical procedure ranging from drawing blood, to removing the clitoris alone, to infibulation or Pharaonic circumcision—removing the external genitals, joining the sides and leaving a small opening. The practice dates to ancient times; usually performed on young girls and in a ritual context, it is purported by its practitioners to guard a girl's virginity and reduce her sexual desires. Because it is usually undertaken in unhygienic conditions, cutting may lead to severe bleeding, infection, debilitating pain, and death; long-term consequences can include an inability to urinate or expel menstrual blood, pain during sexual intercourse, and prolonged childbirth. In some cultures women are reinfibulated after childbirth, while others discourage this practice.

) It is also known as pharaonic circumcision because the 2000 year-old practice can be traced to pharaonic Egypt(30) and pre-Islamic African religious practices.

    The Egyptians invented Circumcision!

The jews are in the OT just wannabee Egyptians.
