Does anyone else think there is less and less JW and religious content on this site each year?

I may be wrong but it seems that with each passing year the number of real JW and religious related threads gets less and less on this site.

oh it's down to dirty politics, and self motivated threads. I used to really enjoy the comments, and it was a great place for advice. Not so much now, in fact, I'm really not taking much very serious around here lately

I think it has evolved constantly since its inception. There always has been a huge turnover of people, those that stay year after year are a minority.

I think that part of the change from the early days is the sterling work done by people like JWfacts, once directed there a Newbie has most ,if not all of his/her questions answered, then a little support may be required here or on other sites, and thats it, set up for a wonderful free life, the person has no need to debate on here.

A believing JW will not be able to stay on here long and debate, they cannot support their doctrine or the ethics of their religion, wupped arse and off they go, years ago there were several who stuck it out for months.

I think it still serves an admirable purpose, for someone like me it was literally a life saver. it needs to be at least available as an archive for as long as the WT exists, but as an active site too it is so much better.

Up to the minute reaction to the latest WT nonsense is important, it helps the Newbie JW visiting to see straight away that there really is something wrong with the WT, as their gut has already told them.

It is a shame that many of the great posters of the past have moved on, but I say good luck to them, and bless them for their contribution, we can but try to emulate them, but we are standing on the shoulders of giants.

At least we still have a number of Big Brains still with us, foremost being our dear resident scholar, Leolaia.

Phizzy: set up for a wonderful free life, the person has no need to debate on here.

I've never seen a proper debate here. I have seen people make posts that run contrary to the mainline thinking of this forum followed by an immediate and brutal attack from a dozen directions, causing the poster to limp away on whats left of himself, but I have never seen a proper debate here. Not even an atmosphere conducive to a proper debate. For a person to be in the midst of all the turmoil associated with making an exit from the WTS to come here and and have their butt handed to them for being what they have been programed to be... for being exactly what everyone on this forum used to be.......

Even newcomers who have not been the target of such treatment find it distasteful.

    Quick turnover, indeed.

You will find even less religious discussion among active JW's. JW's just don't discuss religious stuff. They discuss organization crap and that's it.

Try and start a meaningful religious conversation after a meeting or out in field service.

Religion is a substitute for science and philosophy for the average IQ or brain dead.

This site is no different. No, actually it's slightly better.

    Denial

    Anger

    Fear

    Bargaining

    Acceptance

Stages a person must go through when faced with the "death" of either themselves or their entire view of the universe (i.e. The Truth).

Most of us journey through these within ten years. Others, like myself, took almost 30!

We often get stuck in Anger or Fear.

After that, we ask a lot of questions or start a lot of discussions to resolve and preserve some measure of "spirituality" before finally

accepting we are completely FREE to create our own life without following a list of arbitrary rules, commandments or dictates of a religion.

It would be interesting to know how many individuals who frequent JWN, changed from a "theist" to some type of modest theist, " Agnostic, Deist or Atheist", the more atheist and deist, the less talk about religion? Does not help the new ones, who are looking for anwsers from a religious viewpoint, but it would be nice to know how many still think there is a God, or something. Why not start some new threads on religious subjects?

By her time a person gets to that state of mind, manny of them have already left this forum. Perhaps that is why there are so many non-JW topics, as religion is just a boring subject compared to tangible world events and, uhh, UFO sightings-

Outlaw- just give in and tell them where to find your KFC chicken and they wil let you go home.

This site is about Jehovah's Witnesses, Christians versus atheists and those who aren’t too sure. Along the way many interesting and enlightening conversations and debates take place. Don’t knock it until you have tried the alternatives.

    Peace

    Heh, heh...

    What scotoma said:

"You will find even less religious discussion among active JW's. JW's just don't discuss religious stuff. They discuss organization crap and that's it. ..."

Since this is, at heart, a website for questioning Jehovah's Witnesses and ex-Jehovah's Witnesses, the discussions on this site will tend to reflect what is happening in Watchtower World...

The dearth of intellectually stimulating articles and/or biblical study aides - books - which the Watchtower Corporation has been suffering from for a long, long time, is reflected in our discussions...

And here's a happy yet somewhat sad thought...

If the Watchtower Corporation ever does completely fall apart - and I fervently hope that it does - then this website will have lost its basic reason for existence.

As the Watchtower lives, so this website lives. When the Watchtower dies, this website will have outlived its usefulness - unless it revamps its purpose and becomes an anti-cult site for ALL cult belief systems and situations...

Which is probably what will happen, if the Watchtower Corporation ceases to be a viable threat.
