  Would you want your acting career wiped out in two weeks?

  Go read a book about the tactics of Scientology. Look hard, because Amazon and many other MAJOR publishers were instantly threatened with lawsuits if they published any book countering $cientology. I had one reserved in advance for 6 months before Amazon refunded my money and refused to sell it. Ditto with bookstores all over the world. Australia should be ashamed.

  There are two types of Scientologists:

  1) Those who they fawn over and make gobs of money with veiled threats to open their "confidential" files if they don't comply, (he's gay! We have the proof!) Travolta knows all about that. He's about ready to bolt or commit suicide over the death of his son for NOT taking his medicine. I'll bet he beats Miscavige's butt in the end.

  2) those who work for less than minimum income in Sci-centers who are so indebted to Miscavige (payment for becoming "clear" and higher levels) they can't get out without getting the shite beat out of them.

  When I left Bethel my first job was at Anderson Lithograph in L.A. that printed slick 6-color brochures for Honda and Scientology. What a joke.

  These goons have been so tied to "Armageddon Any Day Now", they neglected to build a supportive infrastructure - and are now tearing down what little they have! They are running out of options - and that's why these formerly unthinkable changes are happening.

  I think there is another factor at work in fewer Awakes, and the thinning of the magazines.

  They have less and less to say all the time; what they do say over and over is don't go to college, obey the elders, be a pioneer. It's not working.

  If they had great content, they would have no problem filling 32 pages 2 times per month.

  But the content is not anywhere near the level it needs to be to compel people to read the magazines, much less be energized or captivated by them.

  That to me is the larger part of the problem; poor writing. Great writing and entertainment can be found on the internet; it can't be found in the WT or Awake.

  And I don't think they need another Fred Franz to be the oracle; being an oracle like FF was in the age of instant information is a fool's game.

  They just need articles written that appeal to people's own morality and ethics; they need articles that make them geniunely glad to be a witness, to be in the congregation.

  BUT they have reduced the pool of any such writer by gaming their own system of leadership; you can only advance if you are a yes man, if you spout the company line. No independent thinking.

  Great thinkers, writers and leaders are NOT produced by insisting that to advance you must fall in line or be sent home.

  As usual, it is a failure of leadership.

  not if they leave the amount open, but unable to download unless an amount is put in, "voluntarily".

  I agree on the message pistoff. It really is down to a half dozen topics now. The world is evil and ending soon, don't go to college, be a pioneer, if u can't give us the money now, how about when your dead? etc

  Got me to thinking....

  I posit that the Watchtower Corporation has been noticeably losing members for at least 10 - 20 years - but hasn't admitted it to anyone yet. I also suspect that they've been cooking the numbers for a LONG time.

  Rather like the Mormon church leadership has apparently been doing.

  But the rate of abandonment for the Mormon church has become so steep, that they've been forced to face the problem and work on solutions - albeit too late to regain their credibility, I think.

  I'd like to start a separate thread on this, but nobody pays attention to my threads unless they're about cute doggies...
