Can you ever imagine them undertaking the 'INSIGHT' books or 'PROCLAIMERS' now?
I think those days are long gone.
St George ...
I totally disagree. I predict they will create a new, updated set of "research" material any year now.
Just remember, when the "Aid" and "Proclaimers" books were created, the "Copy and Paste" function was not widely used.
Take the old stuff, put on a new cover, leak information that a major new release will be at the next District Assembly ... and ... well ... it will be a big hit with the sheeple.

yes there is no way each jw is giving away fifteenish bibles a year. after ten years every household on the planet would have a bible, so why would they want another, its not like it has chnaged.

The WTS does NOT produce 100 million BIBLES each year!
I wrote Bibles and books.
The 100 million figure is acurate.
In 2008 they printed 106.8 million books. This is the total for 8 branches that print and bind books which are, USA, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Japan, Germany, Britain and Australia.
If you look up the FEIS for the planned expansion at the WEC in Patterson you will see the production figure for 2008.
You must look for it though, the FEIS is very long and technical!
Actual yearly production of Bibles in Wallkill is about 3.6 million, it was reported on JWN that at the Special meeting it mentioned Wallkill was producing 10,000 Bibles per day.
Other lands including Germany, Brazil , Japan and South Africa also produce Bibles.

Ah, sorry. Those are some interesting figures.

wha happened?
As St George mentioned, a major project like the insight books, are a thing of the past. They will have to disqualify those books eventually. The many changes over the years will render them useless to a dub

One only need look at the recent DVDs of their history to see they are not up to major new projects or creating significant new content. The DVDs were bland, empty and just faded out toward the end. They don't have the theme of relentless expansion to promote any more. They have lost their narrative so no wonder they don't know what to say.

kindles seem like the ideal platform. with one click they can mass update any or all published books or releases. amazon already has the device and infrastructure its there for them to leverasge.

wha happened?
there's a thought. The less in print, it's easier to recreate when things change. No more bound volumes because the articles and books are avaiable on the web. They can "update" or edit anything the way they want.

I think its telling that they have still not updated the Proclaimers book which is now 19 years old.
It will be interesting to see what book or books they come out with at this years assembly.
I agree the w & g BV's are probably on the way out, especially if you consider how thin the 2013 g BV will be!
