Well, this was not as bad as it could have been - nobody in the Metroplex was killed, and I did not even see any reports of serious injury. I did have to drive downtown to take Mai home from her job because they told her the DART trains might not be working.
Incidentally, I grew up in Oklahoma City - OKC seems statistically to have FAR more tornadoes than Dallas, I think probably Oklahoma has more tornados than any other state. What we had there was a storm cellar - a concrete basement separate from the house out in the back yard. A tornado took down our detached garage one spring night, but we were in the house (which was not touched) and not the storm cellar because we did not realize that there were tornados in the area. This was before they had storm watches and weather radar on TV.
I too saw a lot of interviews of people praising God for being spared. I guess I can understand that in the emotion of the moment - but it did make me wonder why they would think God should let a tornado come in the first place if he was truly sparing them from harm.
