They'll blame us for expecting too much!

"Sadly some have ignored biblical admonition that 'no man knows the day nor the hour' and suggested that the year 2014 is some pivotal date. Such ones have lacked true faith, shown a disregard to the faithful & discreet slave class' fine direction and demonstrated a brazen attitude. Even eminent medical and scientific experts have recognised their mentally diseased state.
The date has no significance other than as a timely reminder that we are deep into the last days and that the time left is short. Many are showing their appreciation for the direction of the faithful and discreet slave by heeding their call to pioneer while there is still time left in this old system of things. How great their reward will be for putting kingdom interests first by handing over the title deeds of their kingdom hall, thus allowing their flocks to meet without worry of financial difficulty. Indeed many have also chosen to support the world wide work by making a one off donation of $2,014 via bank transfer, debit card or sending a cheque made payable to 'Governing Body Offshore Tax Exempt Account'." Those who donate at this time can add an addition 20 hours to their monthly field service report."

They absolutely must think about it, privately. As individuals. Maybe even as a body. But I see it more or less being completely ignored. It'll be no more significant than 1984, 1994, 2004, 2024 etc.

I think they will deal with it exactly as what stuckinamovement said... A very small reference - frame any comment about 100 years in terms of what "worldly , weak , impatient , opposers" would say eg "now that 100 years has elapsed , some opposers of God's people in Christendom may mock that God has taken a long time. But faithful true worshippers of Jehovah rejoice that God has allowed time for such a large in-gathering...." Otherwise no other comments.

I doubt there'll be any mention of it...just the same mention of doing more, no college ect....and most of the JW's won't even think of questioning the date, although they thought they'd be in the "new system" by now.

I think I choose #3, because they just can't pass up any opportunity to excite the r & F about how much closer we are to the deaths of millions of people, PRAISE JAH, the work must be sped up, the time is shorter than ever.
I expect it to bring lot's of 'concerned' friends knocking on our door to 'encourage' us back into the fold, because the big A is just around the corner now! It's like a tic.

I'll pick door number 2. They need to say something to attempt to counteract the obvious psychological impact on members that a nice round number of 100 years has elapsed since 1914, but they'll try not to make too much of a deal about it.

Expectation postponed is making the heart sick - Proverbs 13:12
So WHO is it exactly that is creating all the expectation? WHO is it that keeps saying that the "end of this wicked old system of things is coming soon, very soon, imminently ... "?

"Brothers, the End is now 100 years closer! It's as near as the door! How thankful we are to the Bible Students for identifying this important date in our theocratic history! More than seven million honest-hearted people have joined our ranks. Keep on the watch."
