A JW told me some years ago, Noah preached

for over 40 years. Yea, what,s the point, are you trying

to compare the hundred years of preaching by JW,s to

that of Noah. Is there new light, each year of Noah

preaching represent some figurative number. Twenty

years from now , all will be drinking the wine, and listing

    to the same old BS.

    Thanks, Billy and Blond-Moment:

Yes, Billy, the question was not answered, like the audience really was wondering ...

Good point, Blond-Moment; I could/would not sing because these same Memorial songs that I used to play years ago for the congregation were so changed - for the worse - that I was actually angry.

You may be right, jam; I just don't care to be around and amongst them at that time.

    Thanks.

    Thoughts?

Hello Coco. The thing that always got me about the memorial is that it is supposed to draw in outsiders while accomplishing the opposite (144001 put it perfectly). The problem is that memorials are so short and impersonal. The group often has to leave quickly after in order for another to arrive. Plans are made, but outsiders just got a snapshot which didn't really tell them anything (other than it's an odd ritual, lol). It leaves many with an "assembly line" feeling, which doesn't sit well with them and isn't a reflection of what Christ was trying to explain in his ritual all those years ago.

A snapshot - good illustration, Sab! Yes, it seemed assembly-line like. And it is a very odd ritual.

    Appreciate your thoughts ...

This year I completely forgot about the memorial. Para and I had plans to raise a glass of wine and toast the borg, however I forgot. Made me quite happy to realize the "ties that bind and gag" are loosening even further.

I told my wife that this was a shorter memorial than the other years but she said no.

Well, it went just over the perfunctory "need not exceed 30 minutes" for the Funeral Discourseā„¢ (cf: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/136147/1/20-minutes).

At least Jesus ranks slightly better than most dead JWs (GB, COs, DOs, and Regional Building Committee Coordinators excepted).

"4. The "brother" who appeared to be wearing his polyester pants backwards;"

    Please, go on.
