At my apt where I stay, every other weekend, there are two magazines, one watctower and Awake! left in the laundry. They think, by leaving those literature in the washer room, people will read them.

@ designs can you share your story about being "chased out of the I.T. in Long Beach" The C.O. our way, got taken in for spraying a dog with "pepper spray", do the brothers at Bethel miss going "door to door", or figure it's the "papers" work?

Nancy Yuen. She attended our hall for a few years. She was a sweet, interesting lady...but I didn't agree with many of her choices. I felt so sorry for her kids. She abandoned them for the "truth," multiple stints in prison etc. I couldn't imagine my mother doing that, even though she "loved" the truth...she knew her obligations as a mother to her children. Nancy...maybe she really didn't want children but ended up in a marriage because that's what you did...still... Complicated.

No, she passed a few years ago. She ended up living the last 10+ years in the SF bay area. I'm thinking she passed since I've been on this board because I remember someone posting a memorial program.

She led a fascinating life really...from China. Ok...found it.

I can see my post...I still feel the same way about her kids though I liked her as a person. Quite humble, up for anything, pioneered with my friends who were pioneering...a pretty happy, fun group. I wasn't a pioneer but we were all very close for a good long time in that hall.

    She really had some stories...

    BA-

The 'trick' was to get past the front desk, the towers was run like a Hotel, being in a suit got us to the elevator and we went up to the middle floors. After the first couple of knocks on doors the people started calling down to the front desk to alert them that unauthroized people were in the building. The doors of the elevator opened and out came two managers who escorted us all the down and out through the lobby. Felt like a dunce being sent to the principal's office.

Another successful day in the Ministry. We also had the LA Harbor as our territory and would work the freighter's coming into port, now that was a whole different kind of experience.

I remember in the early 60's when a trailer park manager asked us to leave the territory. The elder (then called assistant congregation servant) that was leading our group stood up to him and the manager called the police. I was greatly relieved that he didn't take us in.

    Yes, things have changed....
