Another possible reason for smaller mags. . .

I was thinking this as I was reading through a foreign language WT yesterday afternoon. . .

The WT needs so many translators to translate their crap into 200 or whatever languages. Can you imagine the mental gymnastics these people need to do in order to translate stuff like the "generation" teaching into another language? It doesn't even make sense in English! Being a translator for the society must be quite a test of "faith" for these people as they can't just skim over this stuff - they need to believe, understand, translate and transmit these wacky articles. How large is the actual pool of translators out there who can do this work and maintain their sanity?

So, I think another possible reason for less mags is less need of translators. As 2014 comes and goes, the rhetoric and doctrine will almost certainly grow weirder and weirder, and the Society will need to have a "core" group of translators to make their thought reform magic happen in multiple languages.

Less to translate, more control over translators/translation.

They spun it the opposite way in the letter, that they "may" be able to translate into more languages, but I suspect you are right, cost cutting is the name of the game after all, so ,sorry Bethel Translator team, more redundancies are coming !

I thought the claim was that it would free up translators so that they could produce their little rags in more languages.

As we move into the Age of Aquarius, the littera-trash is going to seem even more preposterously false than it does even now. Already they are seeing shortages of people willing to reach out for "privileges(??)". And they are seeing their costs going up--hopefully, donations are going down.

With more and more Aquarian mentality, it is going to be difficult to find people stupid and naive enough to tolerate translating the rags into additional languages. The machines cannot do it properly and leave the doctrine intact (a little detail, which in a "to-do" guide would be tolerated, will unravel the religion--and especially as people demand more independence and do more cross-research). The Age of Aquarius is about questioning everything, and that's what people will do if they get a software-translated rag. And, less to translate means less chance to screw up.

WTWizard, it really has NOTHING to do with some "age of Aquarius".

You definitely have a strong point. And I would add that they can see that the more they publish, the more verbage, the better chance of having conflicting info. It has always been there if you looked hard enough. Now you can find it in the same mag and sometimes the same article and sometimes even the same paragraph. LOL

Indeed the calim was, Black Sheep.

However, can someone break this down for me, please!

Say, I am a translator who speaks English and Language "X". If I were afforded more time (due to laighter translating load), how in the world would I be able to also translate to Languge "Y"? In addition to time, I might also need to be fluent in Language "Y".

WT makes it look like "translator" is some kind of commoditized service and they can "translate" whatever you throw at them, as long as they have time..

    What idiocy...
