    Welcome JakeM2012,

Thank you for sharing, it would be brilliant to have this on JWfacts so more can understand the personal impact this has on extended families. I agree with Jemba, those first hand experiences are something the WBTS cannot rewrite and give an amazing record of events.

What I find interesting is how your father and most of your other relatives didn't act on the clearly failed prophecies but stuck to what they knew.

Sorry you missed out on your education and had so many occasions being treated disrespectfully by so called examples in the congregations.

    What a story!

As human beings we make mistakes, we get caught up in things that's part of what we are but the trick is when you realize somethings wrong you learn from it and move on to make new mistakes it's all a process of learning and change. It's when your mind and heart turn into concrete that you stop living and growing. Most people have a difficult time admitting they've been wrong or their family, culture or whatever is wrong and it's a lonely road because people get angry and don't want you to rock the boat. It's a hard choice but is has it's rewards you wake up and you're alive and doors are opening up.

    Welcome

Thank you all for you comments. I debated about posting or writing anything for a long time. However, writing this bio helps me heal. I also thought that perhaps my story could help other truth seekers that were undecided expecially younger ones who have more time in life to recover.

Thanks for asking about my family Jemba; I have a small family. As far as my extended family, I have not spoke to most in my family for years, so they are unaware. We kept our family problems and divisions concealed from most people but they were serious and deep. My wife's family knows that I am not doing anything and while they are not happy about it, they have said very little.

Skeeter, you asked about my perspective of the health of the organization. Looking around at the local District Conventions, Circuit Assemblies, and local congregations the audience is clearly greying and growing older. The demographics of the audience that I have observed is clearly lacking younger ones and the stable families that are so vital for growth. The audience is not just a majority of middle age to elderly people, it is the number of fringe associates that are attaching to the organization. My observation of interested people is that many seem to have difficulty fitting into society and are mentally off balance. The congregations that I have observed seriously lacked the presence of younger ones. I believe that these symptoms cannot be ignored.

Demographers say that a couple must have 2.1 children to just maintain population. If the birth rate of a couple drops to somewhere around 1.7, then the population will not recover and will become extinct. The same principle applies to WT growth. With the increasing number of hours needed for each baptism, the growth momentum has been lost to say the least. The tone of the last Convention that I attended seemed like a desperate and urgent cry to continue believing that Armagedon was immenient and that the FDS was God's channel. My opinion was that the speakers sounded like they were trying to sell something that they didn't quite believe themselves. These symptoms do not speak well for the health of the organization.

Thanks again, nice to be here.

It was great to read your story, welcome. Altough I am much younger I can sympathize with you as we all can. My entire family are witnesses and my nieces and nephews are now 3rd generation witnesses and it breaks my heart as well to see how many young ones waste their talents and gifts due to the bashing of higher education that the organization promotes.

    Welcome JakeM,

I too served as a MS and stepped down because my frequent business trips kept me away from the meetings and I felt I no longer served as an example in the congregation. Then after DC in 2010 I never returned to a single meeting. Like you my wife still attends meetings and when she is asked about me by the elders she tells them to talk to me. At their only attempt I told them they needed to leave me alone and that I would call them when needed. Since then I can live free of the WT...if only my wife would see that she is wasting her life. Looking forward to hear more from you in your future posts.

What a great story! Thanks so much for posting it. You came up with some excellent one liners that hit the nail on the head regarding the realities of the organization.

Very interesting about the 2.1 children thing...
