par 8 , "those who are judged as goats will go into everlasting cutting off"

Personally, I never did quite get why it was that all those people who lived in the past probably lived "normal" lives, even lawless lives, and yet they are supposed to be coming back for a second chance in the resurrection. All the people living today, living similar if not better lives, are due everlasting damnation????. Is God so partial to previous generations?

Ir was well said on here once, that the unrighteous living in the past get life, but the unrighteous living today, get death.....!

They must think that God is strange.......

This style of writing always drove me up a wall, and I still find myself occasionally falling into it or speaking in this manner...

"...Have you not found that speaking about Jehovah and the Kingdom hope strengthens your faith and your love for God? Has it not helped you to develop Christian qualities? Does not expressing your devotion to God by sharing in the ministry contribute to your happiness?..." paragraph 9

I always considered that to be a very odd mannerism... "Have you not..." "Has it not..." Does not..."

I would mentally 'sass' back - "NO!! I have NOT found that 'speaking about JHehoover' strengthened my faith!" and other contrary comments...

I wonder if that's a style of speech or writing left over from Rutherford?? It's using a 'negative' to reinforce a 'positive', that's for sure...

"So are jws observant. Do they write down the name and address of those who "show" an interest; do they plan ahead what they will say next time; do they come back soon or do months go by and they forget what the person even looked like?..." Blondie's comments, paragraph 10

I've long suspected that the almost constant amount of effort that the Watchtower Corporation puts into lulling ITS members into a brain-numbed state, backfires on them by drastically reducing the alertness and mental acuity of the Rank & File...

"...Prayer interests people of nearly all cultures, even some atheists. ..." paragraph 13

    Ahhhhh.......

    Seriously???

Speaking as an atheist, I have absolutely NO interest in "prayer", except as another example of self-delusional behavior.

I'd attempt a Wiccan spell-casting before I'd attempt prayer, as the spell-casting involves more props and would be more likely to have an impact upon my subconscious mind - thereby effecting some REAL changes...

zid, notice the WTS makes this statement with no proof, not interviews, not one, no reputable studies or surveys.

The relative paragraph had me laughing hysterically. Preach to your non JW kin while shunning your xJW kin??? HA!!!

"Notice how they avoid the appearance of interrogating or prying. ..." Paragraph 14

That statement still 'slays' me - gives me a wry, ironic belly-laugh!!

They "avoid the appearance", yet when one has finally JOINED, they PRACTICE the ESSENCE of 'interrogating or prying' into all members AND interested ones' lives!!!

Ziddina Par 13: The knucklehead WT writer is basing this on the old world war adage..............'You won't find an atheist in a foxhole!'

I found that the WTS wants you to preach to your non-jw relatives but still have no social contact. Jesus ate with sinners but not jws, they will preach you a sermon but not live one.
