"By the way, the death rate for witnesses is grossly exagerated. The people dying of old age now on average were born in 1944. To calculate a proper death percentage for witnesses, you would need to consider what percentage of the population JW's were in 1944, a much, much smaller number."

Quite simply totally utterly wrong! The death rate of around 1 % is calculated based on the present population (or size of the group you are considering) and is the added sum of the death expectancy for each age (0 years of age + 1 year of age + 2 years of age ... etc.) which amounts to approx. 1 %. If the JW death rate is any different from 1 %, my guess is that it would be slightly higher, because of the high death rate in Africa and Latin America.

    NeverKnew,

If you are approaching active JWs and questioning the effectiveness of their ministry, you will either get excuses or they will view you as attacking them. (Yes I know its plain silly but as you are experiencing these folks are plain brainwashed)

Their excuses may be along the following lines

"At least we are preaching like Jesus commanded"

"The road is narrow, few will find it"

"The love of many will cool off"

If you are too aggressive in your questions, they will just dismiss you as an opposer.

As far as your prior question, there is very little to NO growth from door to door witnessing in first world countries. I've been out for almost five years, but in the prior five years to that I only remember two who came in off of the streets. One housewife, who lost her hubby when she converted, and one borderline mental case, who responded to the love bombs and instant friendships. All others I knew who were baptized in that five year period were children of JWs.
