    1. Ozomatli's Grammy for "Embrace the Chaos" was actually a make-up grammy for last year. Their self-entitled CD last year is the BOMB--but Embrace the Chaos is only ok. Ozomatli is a street band from LA and if you haven't listened to them, you are missing real TALENT not just samples and hooks.

    2. Nelly Furtado got snubbed. I thought it was pathetic, the way Alicia Keys won everything. Don't get me wrong, Alicia is very good, but for Nelly to walk away with nothing was a joke.

    3. O Brother where art thou? Deserved every Grammy it took. Period.

    4. Mary J. Blige and Outkast laid down a righteous live performance!

    5. SOOOOOO nice to see a group like U2, still being friends and making great new innovative music. "Stuck in a moment" deserved song of the year, period.

    ???????

I have to agree that they went a little overboard with giving everything to Alicia. I mean shes very good and talented no doubt, but there were a couple of others that I felt would have been just as good a choice or better in certain categories.

    GO Sade!

lisa, i agree with ya about the O Brother soundtrack. i bought it and the movie last week and just love both!

i think india arie got snubbed this year. her song, i'm a queen or whatever, the one she performed, is such a good message song. i wish little girls would listen to her instead of britney or christina.

i guess the song i'm talking about is called Video from India Arie's album "Acoustic Soul"...here's the lyrics:

    "Video"

    [Verse 1]
Sometimes I shave my legs and sometimes I don’t
Sometimes I comb my hair and sometimes I won’t
Depend of how the wind blows I might even paint my toes
It really just depends on whatever feels good in my soul

    [Chorus]
I’m not the average girl from your video
    And I ain’t built like a supermodel
But I learned to love myself unconditionally,
    Because I am a queen

I not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I’m wearing I will always be
    India.Arie

    [Verse 2]
When I look in the mirror and the only one there is me
Every freckle on my face is where it’s suppose to be
And I know my creator didn’t make no mistakes on me
My feet, my thighs, my Lips, my eyes, I’m loving what I see

    [Chorus]

    [Verse 3]
Am I less of a lady if I don’t where panty hose
My momma said a lady ain’t what she wears but what she knows…
But I’ve drawn the conclusion, it’s all an illusion
Confusion’s the name of the game
    A misconception, a vast deception,
    Something got to change

Now don’t be offended this is all my opinion
Ain’t nothing that I’m saying law
    This is a true confession
    Of a life learned lesson
I was sent here to share with y'all
So get in when you fit in
    Go on and shine
    Clear your mind
    Now’s the time
Put your salt on the shelf
    Go on and love yourself
    ‘Cause everything’s gonna be alright

    [Chorus]

    [Out]
Keep your fancy drink, and your expensive minks
I don’t need that to have a good time
Keep your expensive cars and your caviar
All’s I need is my guitar

Keep your crystal and your pistol
I’d rather have a pretty piece of crystal
Don’t need you silicone, I prefer my own
What god gave me is just fine…

    [Chorus]

By the way, I got 5 of 12 predictions correct:

Record of the Year-"Walk On" U2
Song of the Year "Fallin'"-Alicia Keys; Alicia Keys, songwriter
    Best New Artist-Alicia Keys
Best Female R&B Vocal Performance-"Fallin'" Alicia Keys
Best R&B Song "Fallin'"-Alicia Keys; Alicia Keys, songwriter

I guess that proves that I stink at predicting things.
I betcha You Know predicted all of them correctly! LOL!

    Mr Biggs--

Thanks I missed Nelly getting her award.

    Harm,

I love India Arie, I bought my daughter the disc for her 12th birthday, with Nelly Furtado. UMMM in my house we don't listen to anyone who doesn't look their age, whether it be Britney or Tom Jones, LOL.

    * http://www.ozomatli.com they are a super tight band, listen to them on whatever music service you have. I like "ozomatli" better than "embrace the chaos" but they are super -political with a message for the masses. I hope to catch them in concert this year--have missed them three times.

Best hard rock should've gone to AAF for Smooth Criminal. anybody that has the gonads to remake MJ's stuff deserves respect in my book LOL.

Best Rap solo should've been to Jay-z for H.O.V.A.---"get yer freak on" my Missy 'mis-demeanor' Elliot is one of her WORST songs.
