    Latte,

I've responded to your thread in parenting....

    JR,

I haven't been posting here long enough to know your posting habits. But Trevor mentioned that you tend to quote a lot of scriptures.

Would you classify those who don't quote scriptures as "babes to the truth" ? In other words, are you from the school of thought that says the more scriptures you know the more spiritual you are?

I think the needed repairs would make the org. completely unrecognizable. It's like a really old car that keeps going bad until you finally know that it's not worth fixing anymore.

Jesus's admonitions were not to put old wine into new wineskins.

Um, correct me if I'm wrong (I don't have a Bible with me at the moment), but wasn't that admonition not to put "new wine" into "old wineskins" due to the fact that the old skins might break?

Doesn't really matter, but it behooves a prophet to get his scriptures straight, don't you think?

I've refrained from posting in this thread previously, since I honestly feel that there's no turning back for this corrupt organization.

All of the suggestions are good, but if they were instituted, the WTBTS would be a mainstream religion...no doubt about it. Without their "special" status, they wouldn't have much to publish in their bi-weekly doom pamphlets.

After receiving much email on this subject, I have come to this conclusion:

    1. The Society wants the benefit of being a mainstream religion. If you read their jw-media.org site, it reads like the Mission of the Catholic Charities.

    2. JWs will never be a mainstream religion because they socially, spiritually and emotionally isolate their members.

    3. Only a JW will ever know what the JW experience means. The worst PR the WBTS can have is disgruntled Witnesses.

    4. No matter how much their jw-media.org sites looks and reads like we're just your everyday neighbor, it is a joke. JW's lives are monitored to the Nth degree. Their behavior with their members who make a mistake is shameful!

If my worldly friends deserted me when I made a mistake, I'd call them fairweather friends! After much soul-searching, I have come to the conclusion that the WBTS is full of people who are willing to have their lives controlled, right down to who they can talk to!

The worst part is the children who don't have a choice; I know a lot of you can relate. This is the first year my daughter hasn't had a JW child in her class, but in the past I have gone out of my way to include that child in celebrations that aren't in any way harmful to that child's spiritual growth!

Maybe, we should change the title of this thread to "What can you do to stop JW control in your life?"

Amen LDH, that would be a great thread for folks like me and others who are just now trying to break free. And it's got to be one of the hardest things I have ever done. The WTBTS say that people who leave, leave because they are *apostate* or it is the easy way out, that they leave so they can *do what they want* But that is the most untrue part about it. Leaving the WTBTS, after years of mind control takes great strength and the help of others, like those on this board, who are willing to lend their support, listening and encouragement. SO I say let's start that thread :)

    LDH,

I like your summary. In view of this, I think the WTBS should follow Jesus' advice and sell everything they own and give it to the poor!

I`ll tell you what I would like from Jehovahs witnesses:

    A GROVELLING APOLOGY! [>:(]

Failing that, how about I walk into the Weston super Mare Kingdom hall (stomping ground of paedophile Denis Atwell, who abused his children for many years, now in prison) and sit at the front on my own, while the other 150 dubs sit at the back and I ignore them?

    Mmmm...now that would feel good!

    Um, okay!

So like, I'm sorry, for like, all the stuff we did that's like, eating at you and ticking you off and um...stuff. Uh...yeah, that's it.

    Hey Jehu,

What's this "we" stuff. Are you a member of the GB, or are you a GB's Witness?

    DLJ,

Excellent moniker! Are we being literal here, I have a deep love of fast cars, especially the open top sports variety. I have a yen to build a replica Cobra, my kid brother has built one and its sensational.

I suppose I`m going off topic here, oh well, back to the (yawn) Watchtower......ZZZZZZZzzzzz.

    Englishman.
