After receiving much email on this subject, I have come to this conclusion:
1. The Society wants the benefit of being a mainstream religion. If you read their jw-media.org site, it reads like the Mission of the Catholic Charities.
2. JWs will never be a mainstream religion because they socially, spiritually and emotionally isolate their members.
3. Only a JW will ever know what the JW experience means. The worst PR the WBTS can have is disgruntled Witnesses.
4. No matter how much their jw-media.org sites looks and reads like we're just your everyday neighbor, it is a joke. JW's lives are monitored to the Nth degree. Their behavior with their members who make a mistake is shameful!
If my worldly friends deserted me when I made a mistake, I'd call them fairweather friends! After much soul-searching, I have come to the conclusion that the WBTS is full of people who are willing to have their lives controlled, right down to who they can talk to!
The worst part is the children who don't have a choice; I know a lot of you can relate. This is the first year my daughter hasn't had a JW child in her class, but in the past I have gone out of my way to include that child in celebrations that aren't in any way harmful to that child's spiritual growth!
Maybe, we should change the title of this thread to "What can you do to stop JW control in your life?"
