Scientific method asserts nothing living can come from something non-living. Science is observable, science is reproducible. A living thing coming from non-living matter has NEVER been observed nor reproduced.

Therefore, it takes FAITH in an unknown process to believe that that's exactly what happened in the beginning, with NO EVIDENCE!

So please tell me in scientific evidence, how life originated. A simple clear concise answer.

    1) And yes, I have studied abiogenesis

    2) Please do not attack theistic beliefs. Lets stick to the question.

Well there is not a simple answer. The answer is they don't know yet. They have hypotheses and theories, but there is still much to be learned. In other words, there is a gap in knowledge. Some choose to fill this gap in with god. Some reason that every gap ever filled was not filled by a god, so they leave it blank and watch as new ideas are investigated.

Naturally if we were to conclude that life only comes from life, that would leave the problem of where did a god come from?

If you need a simple and immediate answer, go with god. If you want to wait on the scientific method---it could take some time.

In other words, you believe something with no evidence?

I will not insert a God in this thread. The attacks against theism is there is NO EVIDENCE for believing in such. Let's go with that, then.

Therefore, I would like to know what's the evidence of the alternative, which would mean living from nonliving had to happen.

    Just please provide scientific evidence.

Fallacy. Other things which has "never been observed nor reproduced": A dinosauer laying eggs, fussion process in the core of a star, ...

God of the gaps here we go...

Do I believe something with no evidence? No. Of course not. I am comfortable saying I don't know, and therefore have no particular belief one way or the other. I leave it blank until evidence is forthcoming. Like an unsolved crime. We may have some guesses, but that is all they are.

Some people are not comfortable with the I don't Know's. Proof of this is that every relgion has some kind of origin story. They vary widely, but they always have a story. One group's story says that an egg hatched and out came a boy and a girl, and they populated the earth. Not bad as those stories go. But we do crave answers, and in the absence of answers, we will make things up. It feels secure.

I suspect that science will answer some of these questions. I don't know when, and I don't know how effectively, but answers will likely be forthcoming. Or maybe not. But either way, I do not feel the need to fill the gaps with a deity. Or with aliens. Or with an egg that hatched a boy and a girl. I'm taking a wait and see attitude.

bohm - Can you answer the question please. Whether it be simple, in depth, whatever. Just solid scientific evidence.

But you would HAVE to conclude something living got started from something non-living, correct?

We don't have the answers yet. Can you be comfortable with that?
