Have a vision.
When you tell others about it, make sure that you can prove that your vision was foretold by characters in the Old Testament.
If you can also twist some New Testament texts to demonstrate that your coming was foretold by the Old Testament you'll be doing better.
And best of all, proclaim that your god loves everyone, and wants everyone to be his friend, but that he will only be their friend if they follow exactly what you say, as you are the only one through whom he will speak from now on.
And be prepared to prove it.
Say that he is a God of Power: he can do anything he wants and he will, destroying anything in his path.
He is a God of Justice: anything he does is fair so, when he destroys anyone and everyone in his way it's totally just and fair.
He is a God of Wisdom: anything he says is true and if anyone doesn't believe it, the above two qualities will come into action.
He is a God of Love: when he destroys most of the earth it is out of love and in a loving way.
And the final clincher: from now on he will speak only through you. Whatever you say (backed up with scriptural principles as defined by you) will be true.
No argument. You represent the only god. Everyone who follows you will be saved. Everyone else will be wiped out. Lovingly.
