They would say she is being immodest or something. Her lack of hair might be considered a stumbling block. Blah blah blah.

I mentioned recently on this board of a sister who had cancer and could not get anything to stay on her head...her hair had gone with her treatment. The elders finally said she had to wear a hat until her hair was at least 1 inch long...She died before that...

But the black elders were allowed to shave their heads in the summer, and why that wasn't a gang hairdo for them, no explanation, but no white elder could do the same.

As to women in the WTS, they have very little so not much can be taken away; it's not a df'ing offense but I can see their not being allowed in the school or to pioneer and all the unofficial ways jws have of excluding people, shunning.

    Some thoughts...

When I was 12 I wanted to do Walk to Save the County, a walkathon to raise funds to purchase land so it couldn't be developed. Obviously my mother did what any good parent would do when her child wanted to do something altruistic--she made me talk to the elders. They said, "Only Jehovah can save the county, and anyway your time would be better spent reading the newly released book from the Society."

We once had a sista who wore a simple 1970s turban. She happened to be interviewed by the newspaper because she was in an interracial marriage and they covered the jw angle. She was photographed in the turban and the elders said she was giving a bad witness...because turbans were not customary for white American women & it made dubs look odd, in addition to the fact that she was in an unusual relationship. (I think I'm getting the details right. It was a long time ago.)

IIRC there was a special needs talk about wearing conservative clothing and also about women wearing long hair out of respect for jehoopla, or something like that. And she didn't even go to our hall.

So...no, I don't think doing significant altruistic activities or not wearing 1970s middle-parted straight naturally colored hair would be acceptable.

If she was in good standing and baptized they would most certainly bring her back to the hall for counseling,

for following wordily fashion trends and not being modest in representing the WTS. organization.

The WTS doesn't like freedom of self expression by individuals in their organization, they like being in complete control

of individuals. This relates to acquired power for these men, ever more over woman.

The elders would be all "the worldly cancer victems will be taken care of by Jehovah's kingdom, if they agree to bible studies first. Screw them, we don't feel comfortable with a bald sister in our congregstion!"

Theyd ask why she is raising money for cancer and not giving more to the cong?? Then suggest she wear a wig for her brazen new hair-do.

I remember a newly baptised sister who had just gone thru breast cancer and had the breast removed, she turned up to the hall without a prosthetic breast and her bust on one side was very large. The poor darling was so shunned by the sisters for looking 'different'. No love and kindness for that lady from the cong.

Funny thing is she cared for the sister who studied with her till she died, even toileting and washing her with no help from the cong.

Needless to say, she left because of the lack of love in the org.
