Go Candace. In my case I did back the elders into doing something against my perpetrator, but it was past the state of limitations to have the authorities do anything. Since then I have worked to strengthen the laws to require clergy to report and increase the limit. Your courage and this case lays another brick against the clergy penitent law and the unrealistic statutes of limitations.

Cofty - wasn't this part of the motion to get the defendants (elders) to answer the question of why Kendrick was removed as a MS? They refused to answer, citing clery penitent privilege. The plaintiff's lawyers argued it didn't apply, motioned the court to force an answer and the motion was granted (I think? ... so many documents to read/scan through). If the defendants still refused to answer, then sanctions of (in this instance) $1440 should be awarded against Fremont North Congo. I doubt that the figure was meant to have any special significance LOL.

If any of those details is wrong please somebody say.

Candace - you're such a courageous lady taking on this Goliath religious org. - I can barely imagine how diffcult it would have been for you. I hope the verdict sticks and there is nothing in the proceedings or legalities that the appeal hearing can pick holes in. I wish you every success and happiness in your life.

By snubbing out-of-court settlements, Candace has proven it's not about the money, money, money!!!

As a result of her selflessness, she's come out of this a much wealthier lady than she would have been if she'd caved in.

Her story is truly inspirational.
