One thing I've learned: publically, every lawyer is confident in every case and appeal until they lose.

AK McGrath: "I just asked the atty if the WTBTS of PA will be pursued in this case. There is no jurisdiction to do so."

Thank you for asking that question. The Atty added the WTBTS of PA was not in charge until 2001. This particular case happened in mid 90's. That said, the WTBTS of PA is liable for any other cases that happened on or after 2001. Correct me if I misunderstood.

I am sure you all know that it is the WTBTS of PA that with all the money and the assets.

Thank you, Rick for orgarnizing this conferance.

Oh, another thing the attorney mentioned- the JW and the JW lawyers were truely honestly confident that they were winning the case even when Rick Simons could tell that the tide had turned against the JWs. But he said that he didn't let on that the JWs were losing in his communications with McCabe, the JW lawyer. Heh heh.

But, take that anecdote how you will, in light of what Paralipomenon just said...

Ok, I am toast on this now....it has been very informative and educational and I don't know all the drama from Rick, but

I think this has been handled well.

Talesin, I did not know Rick Fearson before now, but I agree he did and is doing a good job.

((Barbara)), I just want to say again to you, after seeing you on Dateline in 2001, I knew you were the real deal, and it was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I am so thankful for your courage and bravery for that and everything you've done ongoing.

I heard your comment on the show about the WT accountants and the power behind the decisions. I know about that more than most, intimately. I agree, corporations make decisions to ensure their existence, and that is the motive for the WT. The flock and congregations are just the machine that feed them. Spiritual guidance and care/interest of the flock is not the goal of the WT. I say it over and over to anyone that will listen.

The WT's next move will be interesting. They appeal and they look like jerks they really are. Fight a young lady on a horrendous criminal act, or open the floodgates for other cases by setting a precedent for their organization.

I thought it was funny the attorney said when describing his visit to Patterson said they were quite accommodating, even escorting him into the restroom, didn't want him to get lost. Lol

Right. More like they didn't want him to start talking to/questioning bethelites/workers/tourists that he would come in contact with...

What were the two points the lawyer brought out re: appeal that the WT did have good ground for?

I enjoyed listening in on the call, a first for me.

The WT is in deep, deep trouble.
