They will not "spin it".. In fact they will , as always, say nothing.
Any worried ones in the congregation will be reassured by the others that this is the product of "Satan's World" but Jehovah has it all under control. Nobody will believe that The Organization is really at fault, it is the corrupt legal system. They may blame the individual man for bringing it on them but, hey! even Jesus picked Judas , didn't he?
Behind the scenes the legal dept will do all they can to spin it out and hope that Armageddon comes before they have to pay. Never mind the innocent girl, she is just a thorn in their side .....

Since R&F JWs suffer from cognitive disonnance and mind-control, the WTBTS will have no problem spinning the story to the spiritually strong JWs and will be less successful with JWs with doubts. The shun gun that the WTBTS points at the head of every JW is a powerful weapon.
Hopefully, Candace Conti's story will be carried by more news organizations (especially the non-English ones) and will raise potential convert's awareness that the WTBTS is a dangerous org. I wish that all news organizations would also write about how JWs have shunned Candace and will continue to shun her.

If it is mentioned, they will assert that the trial judge went "loco" in allowing the jury to rule on certain matters. They will be confident the trial judge will be reversed on appeal. Also, I can see them requesting the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the appeal. The Supreme Court may refuse to hear the case. It would be discretionary. Still, this is an important public matter, affecting every religion. First Amendment concerns are present.
Her veracity wil lbe challenged. They will probl not acknowledged that abuse occurred and more importantly, deny that the KH had any notice of his activities.
What I found absolutely shocking is that California is well noted for its progressive laws. In school, we studied the Middle Western states as old school. New YOrk and New Jersey paved the way that other states would follow. California was always this wonderful laboratory. Novel ideas could be implemented in CA because of the culture. If the results were beneficial, other states might follow. I believe it was Blondie who posted that there is no legal duty to report child abuse confessions during a confession. Many states have made exceptions to their general privelege law to stop sexual abuse of children.
If CA had scuh an exception, the elders and WT might truly be screwed.

Think of it like a home but hiding, except you are the one at the door and the WTBT$ is hiding hoping you will soon give up and go bother someone else.
The problem is this one really screwed the pooch and I don't think it's going to go away so easy.
