Why the hurry?
If the appeal goes to the WT, the WT wins twice.
Let them lose the appeal first. Armageddon isn't going to interfere.

How about this idea. My paper is the Pasdena CA Star news.
I think at times I must be the only ex-Witness in this area.
What if we select A news paper from around the country,
make sure it,s not too large or too small of A circulation.
For example, the LA times is too big, may get lost.
A few letters or E-mail sent , A few dozen may get their
attention. So if someone wish to have A few E-mails
sent to their local paper, give the name of the newspaper
and E-mail address. In this way the larger news papers
may pick up the story, LA Times.
I agree, It would be A good idea to wait for the appeal, and
then let the hammer down. Iam so excited, I need too calm down.
I never thought I would see this day come before I die.

It`s all about keeping the issue alive while it`s still news
I cannot see an appeal overturning the decision, reversing it , and handing a victory to the WT.
I do agree they may reduce dramatically the payout to Candace Conti , but that is still a win,and a loss for the organization
Sadly, news today is not about reporting "NEWS" as such it`s about entertaining the masses ,and we need to take advantage of that.

In my old newspapers, there were occasionally several story series on related topics, whether military or criminal or a court thing (civil). Usually there is one reporter that investigated them. Call your local paper and ask who their best two people are for investigative stories. You will get the two names(hopefully). Go to the first and talk to them/write them about it and request a response (would they be following up? Do offer any resoures you can). If you don't hear anything from the first one by the time frame given (do say "please contact me in the next week to let me know if you will pursue this story. . . ") and go on to the next one if they are not responsive. Let them know that the story WILL BE told by someone and that you are giving them first crack at it.
Seriously, the blurb about 28 million is a little interesting, but for them to get "the rest of the story" would make a great series feature on this religion and their actions toward their faithful/and children. If they don't KNOW that there is more to it, they won't care. Get them talking to local JWs, local opposers, Barbara Anderson and others who can give them insight. It could be a fascinating expose by a professional reporter.
Especially now, in convention season:)
Perhaps this story can be tied in,, and the fact that people are no longer blindly accepting any church's right to dictate child abuse cover-ups... just a thought .
Story #2 is in the US, and breaking .. story #1 in Canada, and last year ..
