If one has a predisposition to develop Type 2 diabetes, I can't imagine that being a JW doesn't contribute to it, indeed, bring on the onset. Between the lack of encourage of exercise (i.e., the constant sitting at meetings, assemblies, conventions; the "slow drag" in field service, the whole "bodily training beneficial for a little" thing) coupled with the humongous amount of stress (as a publisher, pioneer, elder, servant, wife, husband, mother, father, son, daughter, etc.) creats a breeding ground for the ailment, IMHO.

Take [good] care of yourselves... and your children... and peace to you!

@ Dagney -- I might have a leftover from supper (small piece of pork or chicken), or an egg, or a piece of cheese. Or a handful of nuts, or an avocado made into guacamole. Whatever is around and sounds good.

As has been mentioned, always remember that Type 1 and Type 2 are different. A lot of the advice here is great for Type 2, but if a Type 1 tries some of this stuff, they'll end up in the hospital.

I just finished reading the book, "Wheat Belly" by a Dr. William Davis. Very enlightening. He talks about diabetes in the book.

Basically, the food industry has corrupted the wheat grains and it is actually harmful to us even though we are encouraged to eat "whole grains". Food manufacturers add wheat flour to things you would never suspect because it stimulates appetite as well as raise our insulin levels.

    A quote from a co-worker I particularly enjoyed:

"I do 100% Paleo Diet.................... 80% of the time."

He's a Cross Fit instructor, and it doesn't look like his 20% falling off the Paleo wagon is doing him much damage.
