I have read that Andy and "Aunt Bee" couldn't stand each other. Don't know why and besides they're both dead and both gave us lots of entertainment while they were alive.
I cannot stomach the politics of Barbra Streisand, Cher and Tim Robbins (to name a few), but I still admire and respect them for their talents and artistic contributions.

My understanding is that Frances Bavier (Aunt Bee) found it hard to adapt to TV filming as opposed to big-screen filming. She complained to anyone who would listen and particularly Griffith. He had the opposite experience - he'd started out on the big screen, but quickly adapted to the small screen and discovered that it suited him. Bavier found the transition difficult and whined incessantly. Story goes that she apologized on her death bed to Griffith for wasting what should have been a rare experience for them both. All his other co-stars adored him.

Sorry to hear he passed. I worked with him on "Matlock" and I hate to say he was an a-hole!

The urban legend is that his true personality was not far from the character he played in "A face in the crowd".
Maybe it would be better to just remember him as Sheriff Andy Taylor.

I've read some of those negative slams of a lot of celebrities. The least
serious seem to be curses of the celebrity for not being so outgoing--for quietly
moving away from a stranger who disliked the contrast of the private person with
the entertainment presentation--or a matter of taking sides against the celebrity
for expressing disagreement with how to do something on a set. I haven't found
anything more seriously negative than a minority view of that, with most others
and various coworkers expressing admiration. I won't begrudge a person over that.
I don't think it warrants a detraction of the person aside from nice characters he
played or we're all in trouble.

I am sad with the passing of Mr Griffith. We have one life - this is it. Anytime a person's obituary starts off on page one of the New York Times, it means that you had an impact on society. Isn't that a good measure of a person's success?
Mr.Griffith had an impact on society, he had an impact on me. I am a better person because Mr. Griffith was a part of my life. God bless Andy Griffith.
