From what I'm seeing on other sites MANY are now coming out of the woodwork to file charges against the WTS.
In all reality with the Conti case payout, could the WTS and individual congregations (also having to pay) really sustain these blows? And if so how would this play out? They're not as rich as RC religion. Would they just desolve the religion or file bankrupcy, etc??

An interesting difference between the JWs and RC's is that the Catholic issue is more strictly an issue with their priests. With the Watchtower, the cover-ups extend to the lay people, and so has the potential to be a higher percentage of the total religion and so more damaging financially.

It's a funny situation. The JW lawyers are running about saying 'this is unprecendented' because it's about 'a member not in a position of authority'. All the while, they claim they don't have a 'clergy class', and they claim that all active members are 'ministers'. They want it both ways.

I don't doubt that in the months and years to come we will see more legal action taking place against the Watchtower
...Not only against the Watchtower, but when will Caesar prosecute local elders who willfully conceal the identities of kinwn pedophiles in their midst, and the WT lawyers throw them under the bus?

What's funny is that they are creating a hierarchy that supposedly didn't exist before as we were told that elders/ms were simply more spiritually minded individuals whos title didn't really made a distinction between others. Plus RC lay class aren't considered ministers while all of jws are which also is a huge liability for them since they all represent wts and this fact is found in their publications!
As wts tries to further themselves from r&f will their baptismal #2 question change down the road to further put the wedge between the corporation and its members?

This is going to be a catch 22 for the society..
On one hand they have mostly settled out of court in these cases, to keep these incidents from the news. They decide to fight this one case, and lose big bucks.
This all means that with the promises of big money, all sorts of individuals will now come out of the woodword with lawsuits.
In turn the Watchtower will be forced to fight most, if not all these cases, because i doubt they will want to settle with all. This of course will generate more and more news stories, which in turn will likely be used by the Org to show evidence that the last days are at hand and that God's people are truly under attack.
