Thinking about trying out Video Chat.

    Any experiences?

Yes. I once rappelled down a mountain. I wasn't using Skype at the time, though.

My husband uses it often. He loves it.

Farkel: I can't believe you would jeopardize your ability to knock on doors by engaging in an "Extreme Sport". Shame on you.

Josie: What does your hubby use for video chat?

i use skype for business. it works very well 99% of the time. every so often you might have some static isses or what have you, bt skype is pretty darn good. the rates for int'l calling are pretty good and they have made free apps for all of the smartphone operating systems as well. not sure if the video chat works on the smartphones though.

i will say, the android skype is rather terrible. for some stupid reason, it only uses speakerphone and they still haven't fixed that bug.

Thanks josie. If we ever decide to leave the dark side of the Force (PCs) I'll keep that in mind.

rather be in hades: Thanks for your specifics. I've read one comment somewhere that Skype is really good at linking up various computers regardless of make or configuation (provided they're not TOO old and slow).

We skype with our daughter who lives 3 hours away. We get to visit with and even interact with our two yr old grandaughter.

I have posted this before, but we set it up with our daughter to have a Ritz cracker concealed in her hand. We then offered little Emma a Ritz cracker and handed it to the camera, our daughter reached for the screen and handed the palmed cracker to her. She did a double take then took a bite and handed it back to us, we took a bite then handed it back...etc.

It was hilarious how quickly she accepted the concept.

One more thing, I am good for a max of 15 mins. on Skype and then I start getting nauseous. My wife can sit for a half hour or longer.

We use Skype all the time for business chats and family video chats. It's got its share of interruptions and down time, but since its free, I cant complain.

I'm assuming there's a fee for international use?
