Are you kidding? There was likely a line a mile long out the door of opportunistic young women, and not-so-young women, eager to "chase" him!

There isn't much "career opportunity" for a JW woman - "pioneer" is about as far as you can get on your own.

The only way to advance beyond that is to marry into power - be the wife of a CO, DO, branch committee member, etc.

Most of those guys are pretty well established & married by the time they get to that point, with long-time wives, so when a "slot" opens up, look out!

Marrying a GB member? That's the single-ambitious-sister mega-millions lottery!

She's going from a life of obscurity to (relative) superstar status: jetting to Europe, Asia, the South Pacific for zone visits & assembly hall dedications, living in a virtual penthouse suite at Bethel, benefiting from the green handshakes her husband receives....not to mention in any gathering of sisters, she will automatically be the top-dog alpha female (unless around other GB wives, who may show their resentment at such a young & likely far more attractive lady).

Don't know who she is, but just the fact that she won the competition tells you plenty about her!

It all seems wierd to me. At that age and with those responsibilities why marry. If choosing to do so why such a young bride. Soon he will be celibate, why not practice now? A number of these men are mentioned in this thread as doing the younger bride and another could be added. The guy who was the head lawyer in Canada did the same. Is this a trend? Would you see a watchtower article if it became a trend in the "rank and file" as they say. I'm sure there would be. Anyway, just my thoughts as if anyone cares. But I truly agree with DaCheech.

thereaveler-It's nothing new for an older man to marry a much younger woman,especially among the Witnesses. I see it all the time.

I can see some sisters in their 50's being a bit ticked off. But,actually he doesn't see the age difference. It's just a matter of over-lapping generations.

But,to be fair,I know of some Witness women who married younger men,but the age difference wasn't so extreme.

I'm sure it will be a modest, simple wedding. Where do you sign up to be a chaperone?

What is more funny is that at one time Knorr had NO ONE marrying at Bethel...it seems a few homosexual acts later and that has changed, huh?

@slimboyfat - I agree in principle with what you are saying. But this guy is at the top of the heap of setting the example of not being a stumbling block (or some such that the society spouts). I can tell you without reservation that this causes consternation in the "brotherhood" or "sisterhood" if you like. I can recall the definite ew factor when the high ranking canadian bethel lawyer (can't find his name right at the moment) chose to wed a much younger sister. As you point out, nothing wrong with it and more power to him. But these guys have published articles taking away the rights of the little guy if it might stumble somebody. Because of this I think that kind of union is at the very least ill advised. They are supposed to think first of the effect on others and then consider their own feelings.
