The BIBLE is TOO CompleX to understand

Honest this started out as JUST a question, really.

    I have a question
It may Seem a bit irrelevant. I ask because of the many threads that debate the "reasoning" in the bible. I don't recall anyone addressing this area.

    Obviously the Bible is complex.
Obviously it has been around a very long time.

It has been examined more than any other book in history.
It continues to be examined by even those who believe it is nothing more then a mere book, and spend incredible amounts of time and energy focusing on discrediting it. [:?] Uhh...like...Why? Why would anyone want to invest that much of there time (part of there life) trying to prove to the world? that this book is wrong? Why not just forget about it and go fishing instead?

And there are those who live there lives 'somewhat' according to "The Golden Rule"
I'm speaking of the one in the Bible not the one Confucius said.(there is a little difference) but that's not the point.

There will probably never again be another phenomenon like it Ever.

    Question:finally

Should there be (in anyone's opinion) any reason to think that the Bible (assuming it is indeed inspired by God) would be anything LESS then confusing or to difficult to understand without 'faith'?

Why would something written, inspired by God to be based on the importance of 'Faith' be easy to understand if you had none?
If you think it should be easy, Why?

I'm looking at it like many people look at other things in life that hold value.
Example: "Anything worth having is worth sacrificing for" or
    ...............A lesson in appreciation?
May seem like a harsh lesson NOW. But the life we have now is all we know. How can anyone say they could Not possibly ever be in a place where they would look back on this existence and see it as ridicules?
Oops thats another question. Ignore it.
sorry this turned out sooo long.

Bullshit, not if your an Occultist.

If theoretical concepts aren't clear, why have faith in them? Let's say i told you, 'The khhaie moon hagden kcoar grean to be sklarted'. Your first reaction is that it's gobbledegook. But then i said god told me that, and only people w faith would get it, and the rest are lost, you would still say it's gobledegook. And so, take away faith, then you have a chance to see the bible for what it really is. Either something is, or it isn't, faith is not required. If one isn't sure, that's ok. Why should anyone be forced to take sides? If it's too complex to under stand, then god blew it. Though it's true that there is occult in it.

    PLM,

Interesting questions, eternal mysteries! Paul wrote in the Bible, "Without FAITH it is impossible to please him well". Does faith mean you believe what you want to believe? I don't know. Paul wrote his famous definition of faith as "the ASSURED expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld".

So a person of faith is expected to peer into the unseen.

I guess the debate comes down to this: If there is a God/Creator, does he (gender limitation unintentional) expect us to have FAITH, or to use REASON, or to have some combination thereof?

I argue that he gave us a wonderful brain with broad reasoning and comparison capabilities, and that we are therefore supposed to use it. That argues on the side of REASON.

If I am to have FAITH, which man-made religion will instruct me in the best method of having such FAITH? Please don't tell me there is a God-made religion. I haven't seen one.

    Sorry Crazy Plum,

It's the borg that's convinced you that the Bible is complicated and needs to be constantly 'explained'.

The Bible really presents a simple message.

It's the WTS that complicates things by seeking to interpret every last word, usually as applying to themselves.

Take the other 'keep it simple' approach. It's much more refreshing.

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

Matthew 7:12 explains it so clearly. "All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you must likewise do to them; this, in fact, is what the Law and the Prophets mean."

Only a religionist would agree that the Bible is "complicated." Many other people and scholars have delved into the Bible and find it not complicated, but messed up and full of contradiction and error. It seems to me that a perfect God would be able to provide more definite guidance for humans.

The faith Paul talks about was about Christ, and if not your faith was nothing at all. Not how old Moses was or what year jerusalem was destroyed, or any of the doctrines "particular to the JWs" as they put it that you must hold to in order to be "in".

Jesus also commends for "seeing & believing" but happy are those who believe yet didn't see. Now what was the famous quote right before that?

The bible also talks of God making the wise man foolish, meaning the ones trying to prove everything. Like a ship being tossed on the sea, never getting anywhere i.e. reams and reams of "reasoning" the scriptures, "tacking", putting the rubber stamp on the truth[tm]
