“Only a religionist would agree that the Bible is "complicated." Many other people and scholars have delved into the Bible and find it not complicated, but messed up and full of contradiction and error.”
That’s true but only in the opinion of many scholars who are delving into it with an agenda, to either credit it or discredit it. Other scholars have found it to be accurate. The point is there is argument, who’s right, who’s wrong? Shouldn’t someone have conceded by now?
“It seems to me that a perfect God would be able to provide more definite guidance for humans.”
Could have or would have? Of course he could have. He could have made it real easy and programmed us like animals to just worship him. If that were the case we wouldn’t have to examine anything. Just eat, sleep, poop, and worship. But we aren’t like animals. We can make choices. Completely trust our own minds (and they are definitely flawed) or use reason to figure out where to put our faith?
LOGICAL
“plmkrzyMatthew 7:12 explains it so clearly. "All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you must likewise do to them; this, in fact, is what the Law and the Prophets mean.”
You think this was one of the messages NIMROD thinks Jesus was delivering to him and his fallen angles?
OZZIE
“Sorry Crazy Plum,It's the borg that's convinced you that the Bible is complicated and needs to be constantly 'explained'.The Bible really presents a simple message. It's the WTS that complicates things by seeking to interpret every last word, usually as applying to themselves.Take the other 'keep it simple' approach. It's much more refreshing.Cheers,”
I’m not going to disagree with that but I think the Catholics cornered the market on who was allowed to understand it’s message but the Jews started it.
Hey there GOPHER
”If I am to have FAITH, which man-made religion will instruct me in the best method of having such FAITH?”
I think, IMO anyway, That’s where people have constantly screwed up. Confusing what faith really is. It would be unreasonable to put faith in another mans interpretation of the bible because there will always be discrepancy’s. There always has been.
“Please don't tell me there is a God-made religion. I haven't seen one.J.R.”
Not hardly.
I do think that there is a God-made way to figure it out and it’s pretty easy to do but impossible without faith. Otherwise, IMO, he would have prevented the Bible from being translated into so many different ways. Kind of like not seeing the forest, to many tree’s in the way.
People are like a bunch of squirrels trying to examine all the nuts in the forest looking for the meaning of life.
”If theoretical concepts aren't clear, why have faith in them?”
But technically that is having faith, but in your own ability to completely understand something. That’s a choice. It’s reasonable to play it safe.
“Let's say I told you, 'The khhaie moon hagden kcoar grean to be sklarted'. Your first reaction is that it's gobbledegook. But then i said god told me that, and only people w faith would get it, and the rest are lost, you would still say it's gobledegook.”
Yes I would. And that does happen all the time.
Larsguy for example.
“And so, take away faith, then you have a chance to see the bible for what it really is.”
I disagree with that because you can’t see the Bible for what it really is without faith Unless you only want to see an old book that was written by a bunch of old guys a long time ago.
”Either something is, or it isn't, faith is not required. If one isn't sure, that's ok. Why should anyone be forced to take sides?”
No one should be forced to take sides and I don’t think we are. I like being able to make my own choices. I don’t want anyone to try and take that right away from me.
“If it's too complex to under stand, then god blew it. Though it's true that there is occult in it.SS”
Blunt is good. LOL
I personally don’t find it to difficult to understand, but then I’m not constantly digging into the deep hidden meanings behind everything in it. I don’t want to. I like reading it and thinking about what I’ve read but I don’t challenge it.
And your right about the occult being in it that should be obvious. We wouldn’t have occult religions if we never had the Bible.
Thanks PPLS for the response.
I would still like to know though why brilliant minds for century’s still argue about how to correctly read the Bible. [J]
