Yo Yo...that's funny considering that the 'food' you partake of usually ends up to be just that when the 'new light' shines on your table. LOL

At least JWs keep progessing in their Bible knowledge. We don't get stuck in centuries old doctrines at all cost. If research shows that we are wrong on a particular subject, it will be changed.

Which is another way of saying that we'll make up new lies as the passage of time proves our old lies to be false. All Bible doctrines are centuries old; the problem the Watchtower has is that the simple truths of the Bible are not good enough, they have to keep making up "new truths" to keep the drones excited and motivated. The fact that they revise their "truths" on a regualr basis assures us beyond question that what they teach at any given time is not the Truth, since if you just wait a few years, it will be changed.

Or perhaps you've been feeding on it so completely for so long that you can't tell good food when you see it anymore.

Give examples of the Watchtower making up new truths.

Well, how about the "new light" on the "generation" of Matthew 24:34? It was blatantly obvious to anyone who isn't totally mind-numbed that it was nothing more than regrouping after their prophecy (presented as "Jehovah's prophetic word") about Armageddon coming during the lifetime of the 1914 generation had fallen flat on its face. What they had taught as "the Creator's promise" for 50 years had failed to occur. So they just made up a new meaning for the word "generation," and *poof*! Problem solved!

That's only one of many, but it's a pretty recent one.

    Thanks I appreciate the example.

Well, how about it? Do you agree with the new understanding?

Yes, you might me right, it probably made them realize that further analysis was needed. But can you see how they arrived at the previous understanding? When reading the scriptures regarding the generation, it made sense what they believed. Maybe it wasn't right, but it kind of made sense. Now with the new understanding, the prophetic word can be understood correctly.

So they just made up a new meaning for the word "generation," and *poof*! Problem solved!
Did they make up a new meaning? If you reread the article that explained the new understanding, you can look up the greek meaning of the word used and follow along with the article.

So they did not make up a "new truth", they researched, analyzed the old understanding and updated it.

WOW! New and improved Bible Truths!

It's a good thing Jehovah is leading these idiots, otherwise they would have to resort to 'tacking'.

Does it make sense to you that a boat piloted by Jehovah's people, the only true religion [8>], would have to adjust course?

The "new understanding" is nonsense. What they essentially say now is that the "generation" that won't pass away before the end comes is made up of whoever is alive when the end comes. Well, duh. Another case of the Watchtower spiritualizing things to the point where they have no meaning at all.

Things that 'kind of make sense' are not to be presented as "Jehovah's prophetic word" and "the Creator's promise." To use that kind of terminology is to put your own words into God's mouth. When one presents his own ideas as originating with God, he is presumptuous, and, when his prophecies fail, he is exposed as a false prophet. And that, according to the scripture, is a sin worthy of death. God will, in his own time, execute this sentence upon the Watchtower leaders who have presumptuously and falsely claimed to represent Him. When that happens, will you be willing to share with them in their fate?

Did they make up a new meaning?
    Absolutely.

If you reread the article that explained the new understanding, you can look up the greek meaning of the word used and follow along with the article.
And if you look up the older articles in which the old understanding was explained, you will find that the Greek meanings were also referenced there, just spun in a different direction. As I said earlier, the Watchtower lies a lot.

So they did not make up a "new truth", they researched, analyzed the old understanding and updated it.
Right. After enough time had passed that the old understanding could no longer be sustained by any person with half a brain, they decided to research, analyze, etc. In other words, they made up a new truth, because even the drones were beginning to see through the old one. And you just keep swallowing this nonsense without question?

    YoYo,

If you're happy wrapped in the comfy blanket of delusions that the WTBTS has woven for you, so be it. Enjoy. Have you ever abothere ed to ask yourself as to when they've ever been right? When? And what they pass off as ``new light'' is nothing more than an ad hoc excuse to explain away failed expectations.

Do you really think it honors God to forge his name to a bum check, as they did when in May 1969 (the Awake! of May 22) when they assured the graduating class of 1969 that they would never grow old, much less die? The principle of Matthew 12:37 is inviolate: you say you pay. That's but one example of indiscretion from the Faith and DISCREET (?!!) Slave.

Another prominent one was the masthead of the Awake! until 1995 which confidently proclaimed that it was ``the Creator's promise to usher ina New World of Righteouness before the generation that witnessed the ervents of 1914 passes away.'' Do you really beleive that God will shrug this one off when it comes time to render an account for one's words?

Logic and fact will not deter you; so be it. You believe because you WANT to believe. Have a nice life. I hope you're young enough to be around when the boys in Brooklyn throw a party to celebrate the Centenary of the Kingdom's Birth in 2014, less than 12 years hence. Maybe you'll get a special ticket of admission to the Stanley Theater for the event; wouldn't that be something to brag about at your local Kingdom Hall?
