Most JWs who leave dont ever research it. It took me 7 years into my fade before I looked something up. It was because I was challanged by a non-jw friend. I would be somewhat of a JW apologist and she told me it was all about the money. She was right, and I am happier that I know the TATT.
Who else, besides me?

My friends joined here before I did . That's how I realized they shared the same feelings.
But,in my situation I was the last in my group of friends to leave.
I also read new posters carefully and see if I know them. There are so many inactive ones in my area. And I'm curious if they are leaving because of ,doctrine or other reasons.

Actually, I just remembered a few more posters who know jws that I used to know.

In re-thinking the premise of this thread, and from some of the comments here:
I think it is true that many people just leave and never do a moment's research on doctrine. etc. My sister left many years before I did - and she is like that. Though we have had many hours of discussion since I left, about MY reasons for leaving - her primary reason was far simpler - she was tired of the demands of the religion. Nothing more than that - no deep thought went into it for her, and she was satisfied just to leave. As far as I l know she has never even looked at this site or any other like it.
Perhaps those who come to places like this are of a different sort of wiring. We need to confirm that we are not leaving the 'truth', only 'another religion'. Perhaps my expectation of others showing up at my door [or whereever] are rooted in what it took to shake me loose, confirm my exit. Those who just leave and never look back might feel no need to seek others of similar thinking.

It's hard to find ex members on the net who may be from the same congregations. It might help to use names of old congregations in posts as sometimes people search the net for others' names or congregation names to locate known friends or family members. When search engine indexes these names it may be easier to identify x members otherwise it's vary hard to identify someone from a post unless they give away some details of their whereabouts or identify situations you both are familiar with. The longer you're out, the less likely you'll identify with more current situations within the congregation you've attended thus it's harder to identify with newer members of jwn. Also, there are many that are still in and don't want to identify themselves as Conscious Class or closet Apostates as they fear being found out.
Anyways, over the years I'm been part of these congregations, if anyone down the road wants to contact me, feel free :)

Those that leave and never look back, still believe the wts shit for most part but can't be bothered with wts at the present time, and once they have some sort of fear that the end is near will run back the wts. People that research and end up on sites like this are in a process of actual healing and connecting and helping others who feel the same.

So is my brother. I didn't even know he was out until I saw him on facebook four years after he was df'ed and since he had nipple rings, I figured it was safe to message him ;-) That hurt, but we've worked through it. He still has no interest in discussing religion with me and I really fear that he might try to go back someday simply because he just doesn't get that it's not the truth.
Talking to him has helped me to understand that some people, like the friend I mentioned earlier, just don't have intellectual curiosity. My brother never completely understood the doctrines while he was in, so it's proven pointless to try to explain them now that he's out. He was just doing what our father told him to do and since he still thinks our dad is a pretty smart guy, he's vulnerable.

Diest: " Most JWs who leave dont ever research it. It took me 7 years into my fade before I looked something up."
That's so true. I was challenged by my ex-husband who was a moderator on this board when it was in its infancy. Two years after I left (he was still in at the time or so I thought), he came over and told me all this stuff about 607, etc., and said he wasn't going to be a JW anymore. I felt so icky and confused while he was relaying all this information. Even though I had no immediate intention of going back, I still believed it was the truth and that I was just a bad person.
After he left, I called my best friend who had left at the same time I did, and said, "You're not going to believe this! M--- is an apostate!" And then we were shocked and appalled together. LOL at myself. What he said to me about 607 caused me to do some research and I joined this board soon after.

I can relate to your experience exactly. I have been out 19 years and was a jw for 33 years , and I often wonder if I will ever come across some old "freinds"
I did post a thread a while back where I found some old acquaintances through the white pages (phone book) and actually rang them up that day and had great reunion conversations with a couple ,then on subsequent contact they didn`t want anything to do with me, still stuck back in the old mold, and some of them were very close" freinds" or so I thought. My wife has never been disfellowshipped or disassociated so why would they shun her ? It was pointed out by only one person that I had disassociated myself from a congregation ,but my wife never did so why shun her.
Anyway to cut along story short I would love to be able to relate to some former associates but I`m not holding my breath
PS. One" brother" I contacted this way was on about how close we are to the end of this system of things now , I reminded him we said the same thing in the 1960`s his response ? oh yes but we are really close now. I asked him if his children still beleived it and was in the truth , he admitted 2 of them no longer attended meetings but 1 was faithfully serving.
I didn`t press it any more

Diest is correct.
I joined here just a few months ago and it wasnt long before somebody I didnt know, but attended a neighbouring cong contacted me, and then somebody I did actually socialise with from my first cong also found me here.
Both reported a number of the friends had left or found the truth about the truth, none of whom are to be found here.

Do you mind mentioning his screen-name? Just curious.
