Protesters at conventions / assemblies...

  I remember how uncomfortable I was walking by them. haha. Usually there is a group of elders standing between the protesters and the delegates. So I always wonder if anything the protesters say get through to the elders. They don't hear just bits and pieces like the rest of us, they get to hear the whole spiel

  But mostly it just makes witnesses think these people are nuts, and we get to feel that this is another way we are being persecuted. But I imagine people who drive by think its the witnesses that are doing the screaming. So that makes me laugh.

  There's a possibility NC. But in Witness mode, I wouldn't have listened to him. I'd have said he was either possessed or just someone who took an issue with the WT.

  I wouldn't have listened either---but than I had never been molested and had the case swept under the carpet. I didn't know anyone that happened to either (that I knew of). But there are others who will hear him, and it may cause them to look into it more deeply.

  Dreamgolfer, if that was the Tacoma Dome in the early nineties, I might have been one of them. No I did not take up golfing, but I have moved on from that stuff.

  Do you remember the guy who had a sign with the phone number 244-FREE? He played a big role in our exit, he ran a support group for xjw's that we attended for several years. We didn't make contact with him until we were well along in our exit, but he was there when we needed him.

  This guy is bat-shit crazy, he gives the "mentally diseased class" a very bad name! I don't think that Hispanic kid was a baptized Jehovah Witness, although I have seen elderettes used the F'bomb, flip people off or use other obscence language. I would have dinner with one elder who would talk about the blow-jobs his wife would perform on him, right in front of his kids. Nothing really shocks me, I watched porn that was softer than the filthy dirty talking these holy men would use.

  I like that JW study Hispanic kid, I wonder if I would have flipped him off too? Please pray for my evil thoughts, I like the crazy, angry, rageful guy holding the sign, but there is more gentle approaches that would get more people to change!

  How would you like to have attended a religious convention for the first time, like the man at 8 min into this circus recording to be called a "liar" a denyer of Jehovah" this man is a raving lunatic not seeing the forest from the trees. Bill O'Reilly was debating Phil Donohue and Phil was going in for the kill, O'reilly start's to scream like our video producer, and Donohue gently say's "Bill remember, louder does not make you right!" Donohue ate Bill for lunch, Bill put words into his mouth, Phil made sure all O'reilly's words were placed back to their true owner! Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert handle angry men like O'reilly, Limbaugh with class along with real intelligence. Something O'reilly, Beck, Limbaugh, Savage loose when they start to lose a debate!

  I agree with your post 100% Gary, I know that in all the years that I attended DC's those "Christian" protestors had no effect upon me, I thought I had a better understanding of scriprture than they did, and I knew, just knew, that the Trinity was false. LOL

  I think their motive is good, but if their aim is to get JW's to wake up and leave, and maybe join them, which I hope does not actually happen,(the joining another cult bit), then the advertising of JWFacts.com is the way to go.

  We all know on here that different aspects of the WT/JW error or malpractice are what wake people up, all people are different, for example I , being a Guardian reader, knew about the U.N scandal in 2001, but I "rationalised" that, it was another issue, or rather two, that made me wake up several years later.

  "Why NOT learn the Truth about the "Truth" ? see JWFacts.com" would be a simple message that may lodge in the mind of some JW's.

  And empty bread truck or pannel van parked at the entrance with a simple message and web-site could be VERY effective with studies and young people. So could a voice mail #.

  I was wondering if an effective way to protest would be to get a group together, have them wear masks to hide their identity, and have signs that say something to the effect of being active JW's for child abuse policy reform. Or elders/pioneers for child abuse policy reform. Signs about the conscience class, etc. I think thats something I would have been taken aback by if I was still in. I viewed the jesus protesters and apostates bringing up russel as nut jobs. But a group of people claiming to be current members in good standing who are hiding their face because to ask for reform brings DFing could possibly work for some.

  Back in the 60's they were called the "EVIL SLAVE class".

  That's when everything and everybody was classified. Dispensation was still a hot ticket item.

  "Don't pay any attention to them; they are demonized" we were admonished at the Market Hall assembly in Dallas, Texas.

  I went over and talked to the "evil slaves" who were handing out tracts. Turned out they were from a local Baptist church.

  The pamphlets were promoting the Trinity and Hellfire.

  So much for Evil!

  O-Kay I did a LOT of picketting pre-internet and did street corners near the assemblies the WHOLE PURPOSE IS TO GET ON TV NEWS AND NEWSPAPERS and we succeeded big.

  This made the JW squirm and we apostates came out winners the general population loved our signs and I got a thousand horn blows and thumbs up.

  This was the ONLY way to strike back pre-internet.Now I have blogs and post like here and would never picket again too dangerous and no way to go to bathroom,parking all of it.
