I saw the recent nature movie Chimpanzee that was in the theater a few months back, and let me tell you, that was sure an eye opener for me. Very amazing footage and interactions they were able to capture; i've never seen anything quite like it. They filmed this group of Chimps for a few months and captured what it's like to live as chimp, the hardness of life, the threats etc. Now putting all of the cute and fun stuff that we all think of when we think of chimps aside, there was always this constant threat lurking in the background. This particular group of chimps had a prime resource - a nut grove; which kept them well fed.
There was another group of chimps that were starved for resources and moving in on their territory, and a war was brewing. There ended up being a big chimp on chimp battle, and casualties and deaths followed. Now this cycle will no doubt repeat itself as long as the jungles are there.
Ask yourself, is it a beautiful thing that animals of the same kind are fighting to the death, for resources? Is this by design? If there is a god who created with love, is it rational that he would make Chimps who never sinned, subject to this hard and difficult life of threats of war, war, and death? Furthermore is man really the one that invented war, or is it just a product of evolution - survival of the fittest?
Very interesting movie, I'd highly recommend it.
