The above are in no particular order except the last one. I have never been a Beatles fan, in fact I think I prefer Matt Munro (just). Paul MacCartney's performance at the close of the Olympic opening was pathetic in the extreme.
George
Yikes, difficult to put them in order. And I didn't realise Elton John was a band?!
Mine are (in no particular order, but with the Beatles first...):
The Beatles, The Who, Stone Roses, Radiohead, Muse, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Coldplay, Led Zeppelin, and (if I'm allowed)... U2.
Cedars
The Beatles
Elvis Costello and The Attractions or Imposters, but mostly just him
The Who
The Stones
The Clash
Pink Floyd
Queen
Led Zep
Fleetwood Mac
The Sex Pistols
Ok so if one must include solo artists here is a top 5 then:

Dammit Cedars. You can't do that. If we open it up to Ireland.....where do we end it?
And now I'm going to have to throw in a new wrinkle (since I am a child of the 80's) - Def Leppard
