Here is an idealogical question, lets say the public had a choice of what to do with
6 billion dollars and there was a public vote on the matter.
They could ether spend it on space exploration like sending another observational
instrument to Mars or either spend the 6 billion on saving people lives or helping to
improve the lives who are desperately in need here on earth ?
What do you think would be the out come of the final public vote ....... Just curious ( no pun intended )
What if it was better served for Spain to invest the 152,000 in local housing and food programs for their citizens that to pay for the Columbus expedition to "India" in 1492....

NASA's approval rating is far more positive than almost any other Federal Agency.

2.When Pres. Obama gave the state of Texas 9 Billion to stimulate our economy by building roads, bridges, and other infrastructure -- guess what Gov. Oops did with it ? He put it in the Texas Rainy Day Fund. Police, teachers, firefighters by the hundreds have been laid off (that increased unemployment to make Obama look bad). Then, he wants to cut Medicaid from the poor and disabled and Medicare. SO, what good did that 9 Billion do? It's STILL raining unemployment -- and Gov. Oops -- holds the purse strings.
I think this space project was an important STIMULOUS package -- every one of these smart people have jobs !
