I was not a born in ,but a convert at 19 years of age ,and the big drawback I had as a witnes was I was not comfortable with d2d work ever .Over the years I was often encouraged to do more in the fs and I could be considered for the position of eldership. I just could not do so .I did become a MS for some years ,but I never wanted to be an elder.

    MINIMUS!!

    Ahhh, the car groups!
If you were in a crappy car group, you knew where you were on the Theocratic Ladder!

    so true!!!

I remember a buddy of mine was out on a weekday with his family and a bethelite couple visited our KH that week. 2 Elders and their wives crammed themselves and the 2 bethelites into a 6 seater van and sent my buddy out with just his family. they were so discouraged when they were driving to the territory they just drove home.

oh the theocratic ladder is alive and well!

I wasn't born in; I came in when I was in my early 20's. The first few years I actually didn't mind the ministry in fact I regular pioneered (and worked fulltime). I think being exposed to a variety of people and situations helped mold my personality. But then I as I got older and got my own place I relaized I would not like to have strangers come knocking at my door and engaging me in conversations. Now we have the internet, the US postal service, and other means of communicating to people without invading their personal space. So then I got to hate the ministry. Not the part about taling to people, but the fact that it was against my conscience to go onto othe people's property uninvited. To go and simply leave tracts/flyers is one thing, but to make them stop what they;re doing and participate in a discussion is really infringing on their privacy and their personal space.

It was very uncomfortable, specially when it was 100 degrees outside.

I used to be nervous that perhaps someone would recognize me from one of the bars I used to go to. I'm a double-lifer, and I used to do some binge drinking and even some smoking. I've stopped drinking now, but before I would actually wear large sunglasses just to try and conceal my identity.

Almost everyone here hated going frommhouse to house yet we all begrudgingly did it! We were such good disciples, weren't we?

Hated Jewish territory, hated Catholic territory. Nearly got killed in Hasidim territory.
