I saw some robot Witnesses (Spanish congregation) doing their thing yesterday. They look so pitiful.

No, I never liked it. As far as I am concerned, it is nothing more than a device used by the religion to see how "active" the members are. It is a "yardstick" to measure how they shape up. The religion is in love with door-to-door because it is their "claim to fame".

Even though it would make more sense to use the media to spread any kind of "warning", the religion isn't going to ditch D2D any time soon because it is their "brand name". In my opinion, they will always keep a certain amount of people involved in it even if they are only handing out tracts.

    Another born in.

No. Brief period of it being tolerable, but never comfortable.

No. We witnessed in poor areas. I saw things no kid should see. The script sounded so awkward. Every ten year old goes up to a mature person's house and asks them "Do you believe in eternal life?" I had my Bible ready to read the scriptures but I never got further. Our immediate neighborhood was called "goat hill" by the Witnesses. I wanted to strangle them. It was a strong Italian-American enclave. We did better in the housing projects. I refused to go in my early teens. My parents allowed me not to go.

I do have some strong memories. There was much racial tension. We had many riots. Everyone worked hard to not trigger more violence. One town was noted for its KKK. The brothers ordered me to do service work with a young black brother. My mother appeared from nowhere and broke it up. She was furious. The brothers were going to just drive off and let the two of us, a couple?, fight off bad people. I never understood why but if I could not be service with one of my parents, I was to go home. Now I think I know why.

How many normal people are going to indulge a ten year Witness kid? Looking back, the people could have been nicer. KNocking on someone's home is not a nice gesture. There mainsteam Protestant people knew their Bibles better than I did. I tried very hard. As usual, I failed Jehovah and his org yet again. Looking back, the brothers who ran the show had no clue about what Americans are like. They were smug, though, with their "goat hill" remarks. My parents worked very hard to live on "goat hill." They did not claim disability and pioneer. My father was at Bethel in the factory for about 20 years. He paid his dues. My mom was expelled from high school. She paid her dues. Besides what is Brooklyn Heights? "Goat Hill" in the highest.

Bethel was about 45 minutes from where we lived. The locals never visited.

I always hated it, especially if we did territory in my own neighborhood.

Never comfortable. Just about tolerable. I've not done proper first call work for months. Still putting a report in to keep under the radar.

Me too! I just say that my work, combined with health issue, limits my service. I am using my personal circumstances to the best of my ability. I engage in "informal" witnessing. So far, so good.

It's amazing what happens when you give up the pipe dream of teaching JWs. That's the only reason I ever wanted to reach out. I honestly wanted to help other people and encourage them. Sadly, you cannot do that in a real sense while being confined to the WTBTS parameters. You can only regurgitate what you are allowed to eat. Once the dream of being a MS or Elder died, I am content with my token service. It's quite liberating.
