Trot,
Year round, certainly! Then I wouldn't need anything but a bicycle with a basket and a small boat. Plus, I wouldn't hafta wear anything but tanktops and bathing suits...unless I wanted to dress up, in which case I could break out a tshirt and a pair of shorts!
Actually, there are a few year-rounders who live there. I've actually been down a street (there may be two of these streets, but I doubt it!) with some pretty humble dwellings. I'm thinking that if I save every penny for the next 10 years and cash in all my retirement stocks, etc...I MIGHT be able to purchase a run-down, one room place. Course, then I wouldn't be able to eat regularly, but eating is highly overrated, imo.

I lived in a coastal southern New England city of about 98000 all my life (forty something years) until last summer when I moved to the Adirondacks to marry a 'mountain man'. I love it up here....clean water, clean air, never lock the door, isolated village life (population 850). I now live an hour from the rest of the world and am right where I want to be.
My dream place to live is Santa Catalina Island off the California coast, it's beautiful, peaceful, and extremely romantic there.
But I am also feeling an urge to relocate to Arizona, somewhere hot and sunny, where there's no snow or the freezing tundra.

I have thought of living in Las Vegas or Miami. However, I will probably continue to live here in Houston.

Plm,
I dont think I know you, sorry! I havent changed my name lately..but maybe we know the same person? Email me!
The best place I've seen, yet, is in the Florida Keys. Absolutely paradise, but I haven't been there in hurricane season. That might change my mind!!
I also love Hawaii, but only for vacations. The best place to live, IMO, is where my kids and grandkids are............wherever that is.

[b]Mulan[/]: Take it from a South Floridan. Trust me. You don't want to be in the Keys during a Hurricane. I remember seeing a picture of a man clinging to the top of palm tree with nothing but water all around him. The Gulf literally met the Atlantic and covered over the Key in that particular area. Frightening. It's a great place to vacation though. Just go during the winter season or the beginning of summer before July.
I was also here during Hurricane Andrew. NOT FUN!

I've thought about the Florida Keys myself. I'm not sure I'd handle the humidity during the summer.
I'm stuck on Maui
