    LB:

Geez you're such an idealist! (That's one of the qualities I like about Americans, btw).

As yet, neither America nor Europe is under nuclear threat from terrorists, despite panic mongers. In the future, this may change, which is why I said that America's interests and Europe's temporarily co-incide.

And it is also possible to appreciate the value of what America is doing while acknowledging that America is acting in it's own self-interest. And yes, in the second world war America did only serve American interests, as Britain served British interests, Russia served Russian interests etc etc. Some of those interests again co-incided, hence the alliances.

I hope you note that I'm not singling Americans out here. I think they are as any other nation.

And no, I think that if 9-11 had happened in London American wouldn't be involved in anything like the events of the past six months. They would be involved to the extent that they recognised America could be the next target and it was in their interest to be involved. Just as Britain has been involved with the real-life events.

Btw...if I came across a bit hot and bothered in my last post, I'm sorry. A few memories were in my mind.

It has been my observation that many Europeans are puzzled by Americans. I believe this is because their opinions of us are formed by watching cowboy movies. This sort of mis-perception is a long-standing problem with Europeans. In the past century that noted European statesman and intellectual Adolf Hitler developed many of his opinions of Americans by reading the cowboy novels of Karl May.

I hope I also have not come across as hot and bothered. I am not. I honestly have always felt that few if any appreciate America. It's noticable wherever you travel. The ugly American syndrom.

Governments are just that and they serve their own purposes. I think we have governments and citizens confused here. Many Americans are idealists. We want to make a difference. We know we do make a difference.

Many of us have spent time dodging bullets outside our own country. We didn't feel we were serving any American interests slogging through jungles in the far east. We thought we were doing what was right.

I hope those Americans in the middle east will make a difference. It was such a waste in nam. We didn't make a difference that time but 58,000 ended up just as dead as if we had.

And no one has to thank us this time either. No one here expects it.

Hey Rado, I must be European because I feel the same way. Actually, I have a lot of dealings with people from Europe business wise as well as Americans. Personally, with few exceptions (obviously) I would much rather deal with someone from over seas. My general impression has been that most of them has been that they are extremely friendly and thoughtful.

    I don't need to fight

I don't need to be forgiven.

I wonder how many nations get hand outs and support from the USA and yet still think Bush is a moron?

Maybe old president moron ought to let them fend for themselves and keep the tax payers money in the USA. I know I would be living better if I did not have all the Federal and State taxes to pay each year with my business.

    LB,

Maybe we should all cool off a little, so I too will apologise if I was overly vehement.

As for Iraq, Afghanistan and all the other problem countries, I think that you will find that a substantial part of the UK armed forces is also in operation in those areas. It's not only Americans who are involved in the war against terror.

Bush? Just another puppet of the CFR. There are still higher manipulators than the CFR, Council of 300 and then there are still others. Only a few are at the top of the ladder and I'm not one of them.

We don’t live in the fifties anymore! I can’t remember when I saw my last cowboy movie...

In Europe we are exposed to many American influences: music, television, books, junk food, the Watchtower etc. etc.

Almost every household can receive CNN, watch David Letterman, Oprah and other programs. Also many Europeans like to travel. Most of my friends have visited the States more than once.

Perhaps I might be careful in my choosing of words, however this is difficult.

President Bush Jnr is a clone of his father, a war mongering idiot who hides behind rhetoric of his clones within his gargantium system. An oil man, the objective in Afghanistan and Iraq is clear to see in his pursuit of the black gold. A man greedy, full of it, twisted up, demented almost in his lust for money and power control. A reactionary, not a responsible leader by any estimation.

And Tony Blair would do well to stop kissing his butt.

    My thruppence worth.

When did Afghanistan become an oil producing nation? Do you also classify your Tony Blair as a "war mongering idiot?" From what I remember, he was even more determined to fight than Bush was, early on.

What say we have our "war mongering idiot" just withdraw and allow Al Queada to continue and just take care of our shores. Maybe the next hijacked airplane filled with innocent people will be directed to Buckingham Palace, Parliment, or some other juicy target downtown London.

It amazes me that you Euro's complain about all the terrorism and when America finally does get involved, although I believe we should have been fighting them over thirty years ago, our current leader is considered a "war mongering idiot."

I guess Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt were also "war mongering idiots" for coming to the aid of Europe and Asia in 1917 and 1941 also.

Back in the seventies, these extremists just hijacked a couple ships and a few airliners, costing only a couple lives at a time. Were they dealt with severely? Not really. Yes, some where killed, but many were simply tried in court and imprisoned, to become martyrs to their "cause." Have you forgot Lockerbie Scotland? How many innocents are required to die before you people wake up and realize that these extremists, regardless of nationality and religion, need to be dealt with? Yes, I include the IRA and our KKK and White Supremists also.

Before you cry and moan of what do I know of terrorism, let me explain that I served two tours in Vietnam seeing first hand the terrorist acts of the VC and NVA that you rarely read about. Does Hue in 1968 ring a bell? I was in Germany during the 1972 Olympics and as the Baider Meinhoff gang decided to take on American installations, also.

In the time since then, international terrorism has been festering and growing. Thousands have been dying needlessly, all over the globe. I think it is time to try to stamp it out, from the top. Do I relish the fight? Hell no, I don't. It will be a long and bloody war, but just as when dealing with Hitler, a necessary war. But, that is what happens when the world sees tyrants and does nothing for so long.

If history proves anything, your own Neville Chamberlin should show you that you cannot appease and placate these type of people. You can add my name to your list of "war mongering idiots," but be thankful that we have been there throughout history and you have the freedom to ridicule us. We are the ones who fought and died so you could have the right to consider us "war mongering idiots."

All about oil? God, I wish it where that simple!

If God's Spirit is filling a Kingdom Hall, how is it that Satan can manuever the ones within that Kingdom Hall at the same time?
