Imagine the jws knocking on your door saturday morn and there you are, WITNESSING the Dateline video. Invite them in for tea and have a chat about what you are viewing.

YAHOO VOICE/WEBCAM users will have Dateline up on their cams for the west coast viewers to view before it even airs here.

I will, and I'm sure others will have a thread started on MSNBC BULLETIN BOARDS re: this program, while it is still airing on the east coast.

Ordering acopy of this program can yield lots of fruitful results. Just have to use your imagination and creative POWERS.

I hear a lot of talk about getting the jws to watch this. I'm concentrating more on the public/householder to WITNESS this, so they are armed with knowledge and info.

Adelphia is next on my list as contacts to see what they offer as far as documentaries and/or showing the DATELINE video on local cable access channels. It's worth a try.

Just a reminder to those who think this will have any major effect on either Catholicism or Jehovah's Witnesses. The two organizations and their members are far more similar than they are different.

EXACTLY what I was thinking! I know when I was "in captivity", when I was confronted with criticism about the Society, my "condescending mode" would click in, and my thoughts would gravitate along lines like this (poor misled people who don't KNOW they're messing with God's CHOSEN, the ONLY men on the earth today who are directed by God himself) and ANY and ALL who are out to discredit and undermine the teachings of the Watchtower MUST be led by Satan.

It just kind of "took over" my thinking (AND reasoning) abilities, and I never got as FAR as really paying ATTENTION to anything negative about the WBTS, even if the "evidence" made 100% perfect sense! I guess it was due to 30 years of "conditioning" and misplaced loyalty. So I really don't fault the JWs today who react the same way as I did. It's precisely what the Society is geared up to accomplish, and it works so well.

Actually, I LIKE the term you used....DISMISS!

The picture that forms in MY mind when I hear that word, is like someone who is arrogant,waving his hand to give the "brushoff" to someone else who is sincerely trying to reason with them. (I hope I'm describing this to give an accurate "picture" as I see it)

I fear that the JWs who DARE to buck "authority" and watch Dateline, will have these manipulative thoughts dancing all OVER their heads..... Remember! ANYTHING presented by "APOSTATES" has no credibility whatsoever, AND, if you're watching shows like this, you are knowingly inviting those who are now considered DETESTABLE to Jehovah into your home as guests, yada yada yada, and you CERTAINLY don't want to make Jehovah's heart sad, DO you?

So, MY "take" on this is that maybe a relatively "few" JWs who have doubts to begin with, will be nodding in agreement, but for the most part, the disgust and indignance will be from the "householders" that the Society is hoping to yet "rope in".

Always preaching that the JWs are model citizens of their communities, they tolerate no "uncleanness" in their congregations, and that they clearly believe that theirs is the ONLY religion that has God's approval...they NOW have opened themselves up to a strict scrutiny they brought on themselves which will cause a lot of people "at the doors" to ask a LOT of questions on WT policies and practices.

Can you imagine how the publishers out in service will respond to the accusations and justified anger from those they talk to after Dateline airs?

HOW will the KM articles EVER prepare the sheep to "have a ready answer" to policies ( two witnesses) they've been trained to uphold?

The repercussions are mindboggling, aren't they? THINK about it!!!!!

Someone had asked Stone Phillips on a show years ago, where he got that name and he said that he is a distant relative of Stonewall Jackson and he was named after HIM.......

As for jw's - who knows who will watch and comprehend? But there are a significant amount of abused people among them, and relatives of abused people. Even if they don't watch, chances are decent that someone else will.....and speak to them *privately.*

I know I had an abused daughter, and was somewhat outspoken (still in shock at the time.) Other mothers & victims spoke to me in whispers. There's a lot of anger and discontent among this type of person - and they're looking for answers to the question "How could this happen to my child?"

I think the Dateline show will have an impact - if nothing else, putting another jog inside some jw minds. Also, again, making worldly people a little more aware of who might be calling at their door sizing up their children.

Btw, I'm assuming there's thousands of jw's who leave The Truth for a variety of reasons - and never investigate the reality of the WTBTS. This will give them an opportunity to not feel so guilty about "missing out on Eternal Life on a Paradise Earth" - and stay free.

Dateline is for "thinking" JWs.

Dateline and reports like them are designed for the public. It helps protect the public from this corporation.

You are right too that Dateline will also help alert those who have been abused that there is help out there - both legally and mentally.

Does anyone know if this Dateline story will be airing on any other networks? Here in the UK we get CNBC, CNN, and FOX, on satellite, not sure if Sky news will air this here or not? The rest of the satellite news channels are UK and European/World.
