Many people leave the religion to get out of an intolerable marriage and the number cause for being disfellowshipped is sexual immorality, so I think most JWs cannot fathom that someone would leave simply because they no longer believed in it.

Well good for you phizzy. I, on the other hand, am divorced, df'd and not allowed back in.
All I did to deserve this was expose domestic violence.
So no I am not happily married, but happily dating and enjoying it. Lol xx

We left together and everything is pretty good. My husband had a conversation with someone who said we were the only ones he knew who left and their life improved. I think the people he knew that left were messed up while they were in the org and just remained in that condition when they left. -

Left together and still very much in love. I do think the witnesses are surprised to see us still together, they always have been told how bad things turn out if you leave.

My wife and I left about 22 years ago and are closer than we ever were in the borg .and probably the happiest we have ever been , and that comes from her not me.

Thanks for the replies everyone, your stories, and mine, are just a small sample of the many success stories off those that have left the cult.
True, many have not been so lucky as us, and their family life has been ruined by the cult, but that does not validate the lying propaganda that makes JW's think the way that "sister" did.

If a marriage has been based solely on a JW premise, it is quite likely to fail IMHO. Take the issue of faithfulness - many couples primary reason for being faithful is because adultery is a disfellowshipping offence. Many couples won't have gone past that and remained faithful because of love alone. -
