In my late teens until my mid twenties I did sign language in my congregation and I clearly recall how embarrassing it was to translate talks on sexual matters like masturbation, menstrual cycle, fornication...still I just didn't think about it when it was over. Fortunately I was never recorded or videotaped and I can't imagine how silly I must have looked standing out there in front of the group.

slimboyfat, I would think both of them are hearing. Sometimes I can tell if they are deaf or hearing by reading their signs.

I agree... The WTS owes them a huge apology.
I think it must be even more embarrassing for them if they are hearing because their non-sign language using mates will find it harder to relate to this use of sign language than deaf people would, presumably.
Again what a major cringefest.
I would think their wives know sign language too because they are probably in the sign language congregation too.
