Everyone here wants to cheer you on. I don't see it that way.
Yeah, offering encouragement . . . ain't that just typical of Ex-Jw's? Don't the JW's do that too? Some people just can't move on.

Whoa! There is nothing , I repeat nothing in the WT literature that says that they have to shun you until it is announced from the platform that you are "No longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses"
If someone choses to do so, then it is their choice. How friendly is that ? They are saying that because XYZ has a different viewpont to me, I will not speak to them. They would go out in service and speak to a prostitute, a drug runner or any kind of criminal - but not to you. No one has told them to do so, they just do not want to.
Scripturally,if they believe they are the only truth, they are told by Jesus to view you as the prodigal son or daughter, until you may one day be d/f'd .
So why are they not reaching out to you?

SophieG - You must read the nearby thread on the "Our Readers Ask" in the Nov. WT public edition. You might decide to point it out to your family.

On what rational, scriptural, honest and unhypocritical basis do these words apply to all other religions but not to the Watchtower?
*** g 7/09 pp. 28-29 Is It Wrong to Change Your Religion? ***
Since our Creator wants us to search for truth, it cannot be wrong to act on the evidence that we find—even if this means changing our religion.*** g 7/09 p. 29 Is It Wrong to Change Your Religion? ***
No one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds unacceptable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family.Best wishes on the journey in freedom from here on in, SophieG!

Blues brother!!! I AGREE!!! There is nothing that says that!!! Ugh!
Thanks Glander!!! Will do!
Fernando: thanks! Now you KNOW! They are going to say that this does not apply to THEM!
Im still floored that you can't just walk away! Amazing!!!!
I read this today: "I said, "Wouldn't it be redundant to disfellowship me? After all, I left ten years ago of my own accord." He said, "But you can't leave. You can never leave us. We can expel you. But you, having been baptized into The Truth, are one of us until we say you're not.""
Its a quote from the sister who left Bethel in Knorr's day...she has since passed awesome writer...been reading a lot ...name escapes me! CEDARS! HELP!!!)
I read that and thought: ARGH!!! Jonestown! Do they even realize how crazy they are? If you walk away from the beliefs you are cut off? How about we just shake hands....say it did not work out...walk away! OH WAIT! That's just too normal!!!

I mentioned in my post on page 1, that there are threads out there regarding successful "fades".
Instead of bugging you to look them up , I decided to dig up a few, myself:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/34518/1/On-The-Art-Of-Fading
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/218276/1/Fading-Please-explain-how-this-is-done
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/181287/2/can-you-really-ever-fade-with-immediate-family-still-in {with a few comments from Oompa}
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/80706/1/Fading-but-I-dont-think-I-can-do-it
And there are plenty more...
I used the search, "successful fade". Hope these threads help...
