If you read up on the "essenenes" its interesting to find that their beliefs and teachings mirror that of "Christ" but also pre-date him by quite a bit.
Did he found Christianity then (if he did ever exist) or was he just a follower of others ??
I believe there are many on this forum who are not aware of the many online Bibles from which they could almost effortlessly copy verses to paste into their arguments. When one refers to a particular verse in a particular book, few readers have the patience to go seach through the whole book.
The online source I use is called "Bible Gateway." It provides several different versions of the Bible, and offers word search, which is an indispensible tool for those who take their Bible research seriously.
Bible Gateway is at http://bible.gospelcom.net/
I will post this information to "Bible Research," too.

Some of your questions have been answered. Going a little further about the founding of christianity, the nt, outlining christian theology, is mainly made up of pauls writings. It is mainly paul who is the origin for most church laws, not jesus or his contemporary disciples, or the 11 apostles. In fact, there was a clash between pauls group and jesus' group in jerusalem. Paul won out.

SS...don't forget 'Acts' was also a second century fabrication.

That could be. I have never explored the 2nd century dating idea. Once i realised the bible wasn't from god, i lost interest in it. Does anyone know what the proof is of 2nd century authorship of the nt?

You'll find the answer to that question in any number of articles in the "Bible Origins" section of my web page.
As for the gospels, scholarly consensus is that "Mark" was the first gospel, and the authors of "Matthew" and "Luke" largely copied what Mark wrote, much of it verbatim, modified it to suit their personal theologies, and added some material of their own. Nobody knows who these authors were.

The Essenes beliefs resemble those of Jesus in some aspects, but not in others.
There's a better chance of John the Baptist having been an Essene, then Jesus.
There is some info about the essenes @ http://www.askwhy.co.uk/christianity/0170CommonFeatures.html#tophttp://www.askwhy.co.uk/christianity/0180J&E.html#tophttp://www.askwhy.co.uk/christianity/0150Essenes.html#tophttp://www.askwhy.co.uk/christianity/0200Mysticism.html#tophttp://www.askwhy.co.uk/christianity/0140Hippolytus.html#tophttp://www.askwhy.co.uk/christianity/0130Josephus.html#tophttp://www.askwhy.co.uk/christianity/0120PhiloJudaeus.html#top
St. Satan:
According to Acts, Paul persecuted the church in Jerusalem (and was there at Stephen's death). This persecution scattered a number of believers, who ultimately ended in Antioch (Acts 11:19-21). Barnabas, whom the Jerusalem church sent to Antioch, was responsible for Saul being brought to Antioch, where both instructed a number of people for one year. So, according to Acts, others preceded Paul there as missionaries. After the footwork was done, Barnabas and Paul came along. Also, according to Acts, Paul and Barnabas did not act on there own when the controversy at Antioch arose. Instead they went down to consult the council at Jerusalem. It was this council which decided the issue. See Acts 15. Since the apostles and elders agreed with Paul and Barnabas this only re-enforced what they had been teaching.
Vs. 24 indicates that those who created the controversy had not been sent by the Jerusalem church. There was no clash between Paul and the Jerusalem church.
According to Acts, the Jerusalem church existed before that of Antioch. So, then, Paul could not have invented Christianity at Antioch. Christianity predates Paul at Antioch.
