I remember before the Family Worship night, that the elders asked are you having a study with the family? It was a weeding method to see if one qualifies for being a servant. Now it is even more official from the mother that a study should be taking place.

The last jackass of a CO we had told us the dissolvement of the book study arrangement had nothing to do with meeting attendance, or gas prices, but rather the GB saw the need to reinforce the spirtuality of families. He stated that Satan realizes that a strong congregation is the result of spiritually strong family units.
Spin spin spin.
What happened to the idea that the 'bookstudy' was the microcosm of the congregation, that they would likely be our only contacts in the event of persecution?
And when will they EVER learn to tell the truth about why they do things?
The FIRST words out of their mouths about the change was to mention gas prices.
The real reason, IMHO, is that they can use the KH's one more night a week in areas where 4 or more congregations use one building.
Secondary reasons:
Control 'out there' commenters at the bookstudies
Prevent Brother McFeely from getting at the young ones after the meeting.

Interesting. A good friend of mine had a discussion with his wife about thier Family Worship Evening, ( He is deep doo-doo for questioning the Elder's methods and procedures about appointments and child molestation, and for telling his wife he does not believe the " Spiritual Mother " teaching, so she is pissed at him) His wife said, " Our Family Worship has just been sh** lately, sure we read the Bible, but ......". Nice huh? After that she said if they had been alive when organ transplants were banned, she would have let their daughter die rather than disobey the GB. It's like a C.O once said, " The truth is the most logical and reasonable thing you have ever heard.".
