I Do Not Think Everyone That is a JW Wastes Their Life

I think threads like this are important. We all have a certain level of bitterness towards this organization for what it has done to us and countless others. However, it's important to see that Jehovah's Witnesses are not evil people! Most of them do not realize what they are doing. Jesus and Stephen both asked God to forgive their abusers because they knew not what they were doing.

Jookbeard, while I agree (as almost all of us do) that the Watchtower has been responsible for so much pain, it is pretty offensive to take it out on someone that was truly doing what she thought was right. The guilt does not lay at Magwitch's grandmothers feet. It lies at the feet of the Governing Body. It's pretty sad to try and lay that guilt not even at the feet of the grandmother, but it's almost like leaving the guilt with Magwitch herself!

For the most part, Jehovah's Witnesses do not realize what the organization has done to people. They are trying to live good clean lives. Even though they are wrong in alot of ways, they do not think that they are. So to be an (as elderelite properly termed it) asshat and try to make Magwitch or her family feel guilty is horrible. Isn't that sort of laying on of guilt something that the Watchtower always did to us?

No, it is definitely possible to live a full and happy life as a Jehovah's Witness. Some are able to let the the beliefs and accusations of the Watchtower not affect them. They have their own beliefs and their own feelings about certain matters and even if it disagrees with the Watcthower, they can keep it to themselves and feel ok about it.

I just found the guilt that you tried to lay on Magwitch about her dead grandmother in pretty bad form. It's what gives ex'JWs a bad name.

Magwitch-I'm very sorry at the loss of your beloved grandmother. She sounds like she was a truly delightful person. I'm glad you have wonderful memories of her.

I think it's possible to live a full and productive life as a dub, and it's possible to be happy. I've seen enough examples. The one thing that really pisses me off is when they 'encouraged' everyone to not get married and have children 'in this system of things'. I used to know a blind old sister in her 90's, who never married, and never even kissed a boy as a teenager. she maintained that she wouldn't have it any other way. I have to say she was the most bubbly, joyful old person I have ever met. her enthusiasm was infectious. She was such a nice person. It's such a pity she never married or had kids. I feel these people really had something stolen from them for the sake of a wicked doctrine.

Condolences to you, Magwitch. It's good to reflect on a person's happy life. It eases the pain.

elderlite - wtf is up with you? Your posts above sound very harsh. Are you just a natural grump because you lead a two faced lie -fe? Jookbeards post was ligitmate and he has a right to express it. Come on, calling him a "bastard"?

I think Elderelite was expressing his offense that someone would bad mouth someone that had died and say that she negatively affected many people's lives, to her daughter who was here for some comfort.

This was not a thread about the subject of Jehovah's Witnesses and their negative influence. This was a thread about how it is possible to lead a happy life as a JW.

I too thought it was incredibly insensitive of jookbeard to tell Magwitch that her grandmother ruined other people's lives. Maybe the language was a bit too harsh, but so was the accusation that Magwitches grandma ruined the lives of others.

That is exactly my position, christ alone. I am usually willing to discuss my current status in the org and the pros and cons (foolish elephants aside)... But this is either the time nor the place. The womans grandmother died and that asshat made her out to be hitler, and yes we did get a Nazi comparision....

A little human compassion is not too much to expect.

It wasn't you, jook. It was tinker who said:

There may have been some 'happy and friendly' Nazi's. And how about a 'nice' slave owner, should they be held accountable for their actions? I

    personally believe they must be.
