A few years ago we had a gorgeous (and very sweet) part-Persian cat who would quite often catch mice here in the house(we live in the country) and trot into the bathroom with his "toy".
He'd get into the bathtub with them and race round and round, chasing and batting it, etc. When he finished with them (as in dead)he just left them there (eeeewwwww)
One evening I heard the familiar thump and bump sounds, and went in after I'd done the dishes.........and there in the tub, sat a piece of fried chicken one of the kids had left on the kitchen counter!!!
Guess THAT "toy" wasn't lively enough!!!!

That is funny.I have the same problem but haven't found the culprit yet!
Now for my professional advice.
Your kitty is hoarding things and this could be a sign of something serious like OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) or something else.
He may need to go to a kitty therapist or a pet psychic to get to the bottom of this behavior.

sheesh ... it's already cost an arm and a log in injections so they can go outside (which is the sole purpose in life for one of them whereas the other runs upstairs whenever the door opens)
They are like chalk and cheese personality wise (one incredibly affectionate and one very adventurous) but both are brilliant with the kids - they lie on the floor with them and tap their toy cars as they play with them and then one cat sleeps on each of their beds.
Maybe I'll just buy a heavy pencil case? See if the little sod can carry THAT!

Hey, i loved reading these cat stories. But seriously, this just shows why cats are really not for christians. They are compulsive thieves and need to be disciplined w disfellowshipping. That DO was right. Pens and balloons are just the start. You paganistic apostates will suffer even more loss in the future. hehe
