I appreciate all you mommies. I'm medicated, hydrated with both hot and cool drinks. I'm drunk and ready to pass out. I think I've covered all my bases.

lol - hope you feel better soon, or at least not aware of your pain.

I can't add anything of value other than comfort. A pillow & blanket near a tv with remote are of great value. Then just wait it out. Btw, if you have a friend nearby.....clean sheets are fabulous for some reason. Clean jammies also....but you don't need a friend nearby to accomplish that, I assume.

Watch for strep - Patio & I are sisters, and it runs in our family - royal pain in the neck - literally.

    Take care.

    LB,

Have you forgotten?! You should be going (dragging) yourself to the meetings today so that you can be taking in all that healthy spiritual food, not apostate chicken soup. Since you have a sore throat, you will not be required to sing, answer questions during the WT discussion, and to make small talk before and after the meetings. As for your chills, forget about staying covered up, just hand one of the elders a copy of the UN info, that will surely heat things up for you. You must refrain from taking in too many liquids before the meeting, because this will cause you to have to go to the bathroom and by doing this you will disturb many of those around you and they may miss out on the importance of the talk.

How many times as a JW did we hear why we should never miss a meeting. Once a CO gave a talk and said he grew up with the '3 F Rule'. What is the 3 F Rule? It is the scale for missing a meeting.

    (1) Fever
    (2) Fracture
    (3) Funeral (most likely your own).

That was his council to the congregation to encourage meeting attendance. Wow, I loved to hear that man talk, as a matter of fact I think I had to miss his next talk because I just simply wanted to.

Take care of yourself and I'm sorry you feel bad. Get Well Soon!

I always gargle with hydrogen peroxide at the first sign of a sore throat. my doctor reccomends gargling with warm salt water to ease soreness. hope you are feeling better soon.

    Hi LB,

I hope you feel better soon. The only thing I can add to the previous list of good advice is avoiding dairy products!

    1. Dairy products (milk, ice cream , cheese, etc.) tends to "thicken" your - uh - well, the mucus that is in your ear/nose/throat region.

    2. A sore throat - if it is NOT the result of an infection like strep - is usually caused by the slimey stuff from your nose running down the back of your throat.

This is why clear liquids - lots of em - are recommended.

    Here's to a snot-free week for you,

    laura

ps: Suscarra! LOL! one of the stories I remember the most is the one about the sister whose unbelieving husband STABBED her in the back with a knife because she was intent on going out to a meeting against his wishes. She went to the meeting anyway, because SHE HAD A PART on the school!!! (Like this was an obligation of life/death magnitude.......) After the meeting, she went to the hospital to get her puncture wound stitched up...... The society has used this example to illustrate "dedication". I think it is a good example of "unbalanced..."

I always like hot jello! I make it with water and a couple of teaspoons of powdered jello (sneak in a shot of vodka) and go night night.

    NO MILK PRODUCTS!

I sure appreciate all your advice. I tried just about everything. Seems like I'm going to have a headcold for a few days. I can feel the head getting stuffed up already. Oh well, gave it a shot.

But I'm on liquids, including booze.

    Make love.

    Seriously,
Rekless gave a recipe for a hot brandy drink. My mother in-law has used that recipe for years. We call it a hot toddi. It does seem to work. Maybe just because it helps knock you out. Take care & get some rest. You should be in bed right now. I hope you are using a laptop!

Echinacea or goldenseal....or a combination of both. They help boost your immune system functioning and will help you to kick the bug much faster. I started getting a sore throat at the beginning of last week, so I tooke Echinacea twice a day. It never went into a full-blown cold, and the sore throat disappeared almost overnight.
