These rent-a-refs have got to go!

All I can say is... if that sub-ref hasn't been fired already... if he ever steps foot onto another football field, he had better wear a different number on his stripey shirt. Otherwise, he may be lynched on the goalposts.

I blame the NFL, not the replacements. The replacements were placed in an almost impossible situation. There's no way that this was going to work. It's one thing to have a rookie official in with a team of experienced officials, but when all of em are rookies and aren't used to the speed of the NFL, it's going to be a clusterfuck. If the NFL would just suck it up and realize that what they pay their officials is worth every penny, they can resuce the reputation of the sport.

As for the replacements on the field; they're making bad calls, can't keep up with the speed of the game and are just plain out of their league. The coaches don't respect em, the players don't respect em. It's like the kids in a school room testing the inexperienced substitute teacher. It's a wasted day in class as the teacher is just trying to survive until the real teacher gets back. The longer this goes on, the worse this season is going to be.

And if the NFL is concerned about player safety as much as they say they are, they'll get the real refs back on the field. Someone is going to get seriously hurt before long, the way the late hits, the blind side launches and post play fights are going.

If the situation isn't settled soon, this entire season should have an asterisk by it in the record books.

The news this morning was that the NFL is going to stand by their amateur scabs and rob Green Bay of this game.

Two players from the girl's football league (where these guys came from) said they were no good in girl's football either.

Forget awarding the game to Green Bay. The NFL could have helped its cause by simply admitting that the refs got it wrong. But they weren't even willing to do that. By standing by the 'simutaneous possession' ruling, they insulted the intelligence of the millions of people who saw the play with their own eyes.

I don't know much about organized sports. I don't like them. However when this happened, it made me understand just how skilled those refs are. I had absolutely no idea. It seems they have a very small pool of highly skilled people. That's leverage. Best to just give them what they are asking and recognize that not just anybody can do the job. If fans lose their enthusiasm, they stand to lose a great deal more money than if they give the refs what they are asking for.

*giggle* And now we see how a very tiny group of people can hold the entire country hostage! Who knew it was all about football?

The NFL could be controlled by the illuminati...be afraid, very afraid.

This may be the reason why Condeliza Rice wants to be the commissioner of the NFL.

Come to think of it, maybe she would be the right one to straighten this mess out.

Simultaneous possesion my red hairy butt. It was the most obvious case of offensive pass interference (before the catch) anyone had ever seen.

That's exactly the risk the NFL is taking. I, for one, would love to see the general public fall out of love with professional sports. I firmly believe that the whole system is overvalued and ridiculous - look at how many people are up in arms over whether a particular team wins or loses a *GAME*. Seriously, it doesn't matter who wins or loses today - there'll be another game tomorrow and another the day after that. But, given the public's obsession with football etc, it would be smart for the NFL to ensure that they can put out a quality product. Refusing to pay the officials a fair cut of the revenue is foolish and greedy and could very well cost them more in the end.

    Yes, it was!

Even on the field for the touchdown, one ref said no... one ref said yes... both were standing next to each other saying yes, and no, at the same time. They just went with yes.

    Peace,

    tammy
